Lorilyn Closing

That little stretch of Palmer Avenue in Larchmont seems to have more comings and goings than almost any

other retail strip in the area.

Sadly, Lorilyn and Co. has formally announced its two side by side boutiques, for children will be gone on January 31. The original store has been there 13 and a half years. the smaller store next door took over from the old Auray Cheese Store about a year and a half ago when Auray Gourmet opened on Larchmont Avenue.

We reported this possible closing earlier and everyone who shops for kids in the area will be sad to see her go.

(The Luggage Stop next door has contacted us to say that despite rumors, they aren’t going anywhere. )

We do not know if the landlord figures into the equation at Lorilyn, but much has been said lately about some landlords’ inability to find ways to keep small businesses here.

  1. We are all sad that so many businesses are closing. It is a big loss for the community and for the village. We are losing too many stores, shopping local is critical if we want a town that is vibrant. I hope our local officials are seeing the crisis and are planning to make the village more attractive to businesses. I wish Lorilynn all the best.
