Rumorville: Coming Soon!

Lots of action on Main Street right now.  And it’s (almost) all good. Happy shopping/eating/drinking/splitting boards in half.

Coming:

Frankie and Fanuccis – It takes a lot of moxie to open a pizza joint on Mamaroneck Avenue…only that’s not exactly what this is. If you know their restaurant in Hartsdale, you know F and F is a warm, comfortable restaurant centered around a wood burning brick pizza oven. "This is not just any pizza," says Owner Brad Nagy.  "You’d be proud to bring a date here, or the family."  Opening December 10. 301 Mamaroneck Avenue, Mamaroneck.

Excel Martial Arts– Brian Lanza says of his soon-to-open Larchmont Martial Arts studio, not only will it offer karate for all ages, "our Zen like feeling upstairs is the perfect location to join-in for professionally taught Yoga and Pilates classes.  We also have a Dance Studio where multiple types of dance styles are taught." Mention theLoop for a free week trial.  Opens in January. 2097 Palmer Ave. Larchmont. (directly across the street from Pine Brook Park.)

Vintage 1891 — We are really excited about this one. We got an insider’s look last night at the raw space that will be a beautiful wine bar and restaurant in Larchmont, with comfy wing back chairs and booths separated by fabric panels. But the real joy of this place will be the free wifi and big communal tables. Come and hang out. "We want this to be a neighborhood gathering place," says owner Craig Muraszewski. "No pressure to buy anything." But if you’re into food and wine, coffee and teas you’ll want to. Monthly lockers will even be available for your own case of wine waiting for you in a private room with a big table for your guests. Opens in January.  Wish it was sooner. 2098 Boston Post Road, Larchmont.

Here:

Brigit – The come-on for this attractive new Mamaroneck venue store is "for Goddess Maidens, Mothers and Wise Women." Co-owner Breda — says the clothing and accessories come primarily from "small, family-owned businesses." We noticed a few local artisans as well.  Events ("for ladies") are also planned if you want to pay a visit and sign up. Open now. 323 Mamaroneck Avenue, Mamaroneck.

Moved:

Milieu– The Mamaroneck Avenue home furnishings store (corner Mamaroneck Ave and Mt. Pleasant St.) is closed, but moving to a larger space on E. Boston Post Road.

Gone:

Beadz– On the Boston Post Road in Larchmont for 16 + years, Beadz was a go-to place for parties, where you could create your own jewelry.  Melanie Rose tells us she will continue her business with parties, lessons and classes  without the store.

  1. Attended the Brigit opening night preview and felt quite at home in the store. It seems all the artisans are local and women. Brigit has beautiful stone jewelry, trendy designer look, not designer label bags and a is a great spot to update one’s wardrobe or to shop for holiday presents.

  2. Great to see coverage on gorgeous new store Brigit. For edification, the store is named after the Celtic goddess Brigit and showcases both local and global women artists primarily. It is a women’s cooperative boutique and gallery with the intent to both empower and promote women’s creativity. Although some products may be from small family businesses the majority are artists from Larchmont, Mamaroneck, Rye Neck, Bronxville. Pelham & Africa and Morrocco. The store welcomes inquiries by other locals artists and will look to promote various evening trunk shows and gallery evenings along with book clubs and workshops geared toward spirtual enlightenment

  3. And what’s opening on Palmer Ave in Larchmont? The homemade pizza joint is taking awhile to finish up but two other stores look ready to open. One near Lusardi’s and one in the old Luggage Stop space. Anyone know what’s coming?

editrix: the old Luggage Stop space is written up in Rumorville about a week ago…a gift shop/home accessory store and over near Lusardi’s a laser treatment/spa business is coming.

  4. Great to see new people with new ideas. Who knows, maybe we will witness the start of the next Gap, Origins, Gordon Bierch, LuluLemon, Chipolte, Pomme Frites, etc? Please, support our local businesses. Yes, I know there is little risk buying at Target, but when can you ever tell your grand kids “you were their best customer” before they had 500 stores? Our community is great, let’s make it greater!

  5. Haven’t been to F&F in Mamaroneck yet, but have eaten at the Hartsdale location a half dozen times – really good food and terrific atmosphere.
