James Coughlin, a 58-year-old Mamaroneck man, was charged with felony driving while intoxicated and criminal possession of
marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor, after allegedly rear-ending another car in the McDonald’s drive-thru on July 28.
According to police, Coughlin left his 2003 Jeep Wrangler in the drive-thru lane, walked to the window to get his food, and then left the scene on foot. Police found him in front of HSBC Bank on Boston Post Road at about 9:30 p.m.
Police said Coughlin had a blood-alcohol concentration of .15. They also found 45 grams of marijuana in a bag in his car.
Two would-be burglars were apparently foiled twice in about a half-hour last week in Scarsdale, once by an alarm and once by a 77-year-old woman.
At about 8:30 p.m. on July 27, a Penn Road woman was upstairs in her home when she heard a loud noise. The woman went downstairs to investigate, and from her dining room saw two men on her patio apparently trying to break in.
The woman screamed, and the men fled. Police arrived and found pry marks on her door.
Police believe that was the subjects’ second stop of the night.
Less than a half-hour earlier, a Palmer Avenue man got a call from his alarm company alerting him to a possible burglary attempt.
The basement door to the home had been damaged, but the homeowner said nothing was amiss and nothing had been taken.
The matters remain under investigation and no arrests have been made.
