Death of New Rochelle Boy Called “Suspicious”
The “suspicious” death of a 2-year-old New Rochelle boy this weekend remained under investigation Sunday night, police said.
“No arrests have been made,” New Rochelle Police Sgt. Daniel Conca said. Conca had few details about the boy’s early Sunday morning death, saying only that “the incident is suspicious in nature.”
News 12 reports that authorities say the boy, who died early today inside his Main Street apartment, spent time in foster care after allegations of abuse by his parents but was returned to them in June of 2010.
Police reportedly received a call from a neighbor on Main Street at about 1:15 a.m. Sunday saying that the boy was having trouble breathing. The child was taken to Sound Shore Medical Center where he was pronounced dead less than an hour later.
There has been no official determination on the cause of death.
