Fight Breast Cancer By Shopping
Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, it’s the perfect time to shop for the cause
at a special event.
Jewelry designer Pam Older, Gracious Home Living and The Powder Room, both in Pelham, are just a few locals hosting an evening of socializing and shopping to raise money to combat the disease. The event will be from 6 – 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Globe, 1879 Palmer Avenue, Larchmont.
With Globe-donated space, unique wares to buy and raffle prizes from local favorites including Pink on Palmer, Bradleys, Bistro Rollin, Dr. Mark Epstein, Cocoa, Villa Maria, Window Expressions and Hennessey Freida, the event is going to be a great way to honor both those who survived and succumbed to the disease.
Money raised from the event will go to Susan G. Komen for The Cure.
Admission is free, and a cash bar will be open for business.
Each year, about 1,000 women in Westchester County are diagnosed with breast cancer, according to Dr. Cheryl Archbald, Acting Commissioner of Health for Westchester County, adding that all women should have clinical breast exams starting at 20 and yearly mammograms once they hit 40.
“Early detection can improve a woman’s chances of survival from breast cancer,” she said.
