Hampshire Sale: $12.1 Million

While we await word, possibly Wednesday, of the identity of the  buyer of the Hampshire Country Club property, we hear from our friend

Aman Ali at the Journal News that he has heard from Club President San Brettschneider that the Club was willing to go below the asking price (market price $14.9 million) because the $12.1 million will still cover all the expenses the club needs to execute the sale, such as paying back bank loans.

Brettschneider reportedly said the main reason the club didn’t accept Mamaroneck Town/Village’s bid was because Hampshire wanted to move “sooner rather than later” on a deal and a municipal acquisition would necessitiate a lengthy series of public hearings.

The property has also suffered a few incidents of petty vandalism .

The deal is expected to be complete in June.
