Honey I Shrunk the Government

Westchester County Legislators have a plan . . . to shrink their employer . . .

They propose consolidating county departments and offices from 36 to 19 departments and reducing head count by 51 – for a total savings of $7.5 million.  Loop-area Legislator Judy Myers (also the Majority Whip), recognizing the toll of the economic downturn on Westchester residents:  "It is our fundamental responsibility as legislators to make government work efficiently on behalf of its residents, and at its current structure and size, it simply isn’t providing the financial relief to our taxpayers."

  1. This is a good start, but given the fact that NY state is broke, and we’re all taxed to the max, I think county and town governments are going to need to shrink and consolidate a lot more.
