Knock Knock. Rye: Bye!
The City of Rye is apparently looking at a proposal to keep solicitors out of your doorway if you don’t want them…particularly after 8:00 at night.

How about the same for Larchmont Village, especially the blocks near the train station, where our doorbells are constantly ringing as late as 9pm sometimes? It is very disruptive. I would like to see this matter addressed by the Village.
And while they’re at it, please do something more effective about the cars that use these wholly residential blocks in the Village as their own personal parking lots for Metro North (in violation of current Village parking codes). The parking tickets that are received by these individuals are too few and far between, and probably too low of a fine, to do anything to stop them.
One of these errant parkers once told me that the amount of tickets he has to pay is cheaper than getting a parking permit somewhere. I don’t know where he lived or where he could have purchased a permit, and this was a few years back so things could have changed.

And, howaboutthesameforalltheSoundShoretownsandvillagesandcities ? The Rye proposal on soliciting regulations makes sense – let’s re-use it. And how many solicitors would anyone guess know the zigzag boundaries of the various municipalities anyway?
First ask for their card or anything else identifying the person or organization. then ask to see their permit from the VOL or TOM – no one can solicit door to door without it. Then call police if they cannot show it.
