Larchmont Acres Spewing Smoke

I just want to bring this hideous situation to the attention of Larchmont and Mamaroneck residents.  One of the buildings of Larchmont Acres

(off Richbell Road and Palmer Ave), has been spewing thick black smoke from its chimney for weeks now.  About two weeks ago I called the Town of Mamaroneck’s Building Dept. and they are aware of the situation.  I was told by the Town building inspector that the smoke is a result of a malfunctioning boiler and that the building was issued a citation.  I also reported the situation to the Westchester Board of Health about two weeks ago.  Just yesterday I saw the black smoke again.  The building is right next door to Central school and the smoke blows during school hours.

Can theLoop please highlight this issue and try to exert some pressure on Larchmont Acres and the Town to clean up this issue? thank you.

editrix: we have asked the Town to respond.

 1. But of course – as soon as the pressing needs of the Town are addressed by its administrators (parking meters, beautification committee, avoiding to pay for the purification plant, increase in taxes to pay plush public pensions), they will get to what they are actually paid to do, i.e. take care of their taxpayers’ needs. But not before.

 2. Kudos to this very concerned resident for bringing this to the attention of Mamaroneck and Larchmont residents and calling our local ‘leaders’ to task. Thanks to In The Loop for sharing this information!

 3. Thank you for raising this issue – even my child the other day noticed this and asked “mom why is there black smoke in the sky”. This should not be happening!

 4. Perhaps it will stop when they elect a new Pope?
