Mamaroneck High School Graduates 315; others say goodbye

The Mamaroneck High School class of 2010 celebrated graduation Wednesday,

 

 

 

  

 

 

 

 

 

in the summer heat. For the first time, the graduation was held on the baseball field due to planned work on Memorial Field.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Student government representatives, faculty speakers, and the salutatorian and valedictorian lauded this graduating class for their personal development and achievements.  Valedictorian Catherine Gerkis remarked that, “[Mamaroneck High School] has provided me with excellent teachers, great friends, stimulating classes and enjoyable extra curriculars, all of which have provoked my thoughts, questioned my values, and encouraged my development these past four years.”

 

This year was also the thirteenth and final graduation where Dr. Orfinger was principal.  In his speech, Dr. Orfinger mentioned that he had “never seen such animation, spirit, and diversity in a school.”

 

Meanwhile, Jennifer Rosenzweig, the English teacher whose denial of tenure sparked protest and sadness among many members of the School community this semester is heading to Bronxville High School. She posted a note on the Facebook page created by her students, saying:
