Mamaroneck Schools Foundation Raises $90K
300 guests gathered in support of the Mamaroneck Schools Foundation at an annual gala May 15 at Orienta Beach Club.
The Casablanca-themed night with silent and live auction items, raised more than $90,000, which starts the funding for next year’s grant awards.
The high grossing item of the night was a week’s stay at a luxury private villa in Sonoma CA’s wine country – bringing in $4200. And the perennial favorite, offered for the last time this year – the naming of the Larchmont Tavern sandwich – went to Nancy and Michael Kanterman for $2000. No word yet on what’ll be between that bread.
The Foundation is 14 years old. According to its President, Melina Vourleikis, "Our mission is to strengthen and enrich the curriculum by serving as a cataylst for the development and promotion of innovative and meaningful programs."
One of the future funding aims is $50,000 for the Hommocks Greeenhouse Project to be built on the school’s roof. Bidding also is still open for the Mid-Summer’s Night Party ($55 per person) and Ladies Tennis at American Yacht Club ($75 per person). If you’d like to contribute to any of these or other projects, checks can be make out to the Mamaroneck Schools Foundation, PO Box 123, Larchmont, NY 10538 or online at www.mamaroneckschoolsfoundation.org. Please note where your payment should be directed.
