Mam’k Field Hockey Suffers Blow

After a very determined and fierce fight throughout the Field Hockey Class A State Championship game vs. Williamsville North High School, the Mamaroneck field hockey team lost in the final minute of the game, coming in 2nd in the state.

 

 

 

 

Final score was Williamsville North 1, Mamaroneck 0.  Athletic Director Bari Suman said, “We are so proud of the amazing effort and character that this team demonstrated, working incredibly hard throughout the entire season. They are great girls that our whole community has followed and been proud of all season.”  We’d like to congratulate the entire team and their coaches, John Savage and Trish Miller, for their tremendous performance!

SWIMMING

After finishing as the top qualifier in the 500 freestyle event in the preliminary round of the state swimming and diving championships yesterday, MHS senior Kelly Johanson finished 4 th in the state in both the 200 and 500 freestyle events with times of 1 minute, 53.25 seconds and 4 minutes, 57.7 seconds, respectively.  Kelly was voted captain of the Section 1 team by swimmers and coaches.  She also won the state sportsmanship award.  Many congratulations to Kelly for her outstanding achievements!
