VILLAGE OF MAMARONECK

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

A 2005 Toyota parked overnight at Mamaroneck High School on Palmer Avenue was broken into. The passenger side window was smashed and over $1,000 worth of personal items was stolen includinga GPS, cash and an airbag.  February 23

 

INVESTIGATION

A youth in a black BMW was caught with a small amount of marijuana in the parking lot of Starbucks on West Boston Post Road, next to Mamaroneck High School.  A youth officer patrolling the area, noticed the youth acting suspicious, and approached the car. He smelled a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the car.  February 24

 

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

Several people took two fire extinguishers and unleashed their contents in and around school buses parked at the Mamaroneck Schools Transportation Department at 119 Gertrude Avenue. February 28

 

FIGHT

An intoxicated man was assaulted on Beach Avenue as he walked home from a friend’s house at3:00 AM.  The men approached him asking for money and then began to beat him up.  Police located two men in the area and detained them, but the intoxicated man was unable to identity them.  March 1

 

THEFT

One wheel was stolen off a 1997 Ford parked at Fairway Auto Body between February 28thand March 1st. 725 Fenimore Road.

 

ASSAULT

A 44-year old resident of Washington Street wasarrested for assaulting his 40-year old wife and violating a court-mandated order of protection.  March 2

 

THEFT

Four wheels were stolen off a 2009 Honda Accord parked in a homeowner’s driveway.   A similar incident was reported in Harrison, later in the day.  A green Dodge Caravan with Florida plates was spotted leaving the scene of the crime. 511 Jefferson Avenue.  March 2

 

 

TOWN OF MAMARONECK

GRAFITTI

A bus stop structure on Palmer & Weaver Avenue appeared to have evidence of graffiti on it.  February 27

 

DWAI

A 60-year old localman hit a utility pole on Deerfield Lane and officers responded. He waslater charged with driving while ability impaired, a violation.  February 27

 

 

 

SCARSDALE

ASSISTANCE RENDERED

A local woman complained that a group of youthshad thrown snowballs at her 2010 Mercedes on two separate occasions,  February 23rd and February 24th, at about 3:15 PM. She was parked at Scarsdale High School on Post Road.  There was no damage to her car.  A Department Youth Officer will be following up. 

 

ASSISTANCE RENDERED

A plow driver for the town reported that he waspummeled with snowballs by youths while he was plowing on 20 Aspen Road.  One of the snowballs struck him in the face.  When confronted, the youths fled the scene.  He attempted to speak with the homeowner at 20 Aspen Road, but she did not know the identity of the youths; they hadoffered to shovel her driveway for payment.  February 26

 

ASSISTANCE RENDERED

Residents of 177 Saxon Woods Road reported a vehicle sliding off the road into their front lawn, due to heavy snowfall.  Due to the amount of snow on the ground, damage to the lawn could not be determined.  The homeowner was told to contact the driver if damage was found.  February 26

 

ASSISTANCE RENDERED

Youths in a Hyundai were reported to be drivingaround Sprague Road, mowing snowmen down with their car.  February 27

 

ANIMAL COMPLAINT

An injured possum was reported to be acting defensively and erratically in front of 1 Chase Road. Fearing that the animal was sick or rabid, a wildlife trapper was called to remove it.  March 1

NEW ROCHELLE

FELONY CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

Six men and women, ages 18 – 20 from Poughkeepsie, Ossining, Mt Kisco, Hawthorne and Peekskill,  were arrested and charged with criminal mischief in the 3rd degree, a felony, for breaking into a vacant apartment at 6 Mt. Edna Place.  A 7th person, a 16 year-old female from Ossining was charged along with the others on a count of misdemeanor criminal trespass.   A tenant of the multifamily dwelling called the building owner who then called police.  Police discovered a damaged outside door to the stairwell and the door to the apartment at issue locked.  Police forced the door open and found the suspects on the back porch.  February 27

BURGLARY ARRESTS

A 24 year-old New Rochelle man was arrested and charged with two burglaries from the same deli at 2 Lafayette Avenue, one occurring on January 25th and the other on February 1st.   Property theft unit detectives investigating the incidents believe the suspect took cigarettes, cash and phone cards from the premises in January and cash and cigarettes in February. February 26

STOLEN VEHICLE

A 51 year-old New Rochelle man reported his 2007 Toyota 4-Runner missing from the Prospect Street parking lot.  20 Leroy Place.  February 28

LARCENY FROM MOTOR VEHICLE

A 38 year-old New Rochelle man reported missing from his      2006 Mitsubishi Endeavor a Carhart jacket ($120 value), NY Jets bag ($20 value) and tap shoes ($60).  The car was parked overnight and may have been unlocked.  24 Ormonde Place. February 28

ASSAULT AND MISSING CAR

A 37 year-old New Rochelle woman called police to report that her 39 year-old husband had taken their 2007 Jeep without her consent.  When police arrived at the apartment, they found that the woman had numerous bruises to her face and body; she said that her husband had beaten her in the car on the way home froma party in Rockland County.  The victim declined medical attention, saying she would see her own doctor.  The couple have children ages 7 and 12 who were home, but not in the vehicle during the incident.  As of March 1st, police had not located the car or the husband.  673 Pelham Road.  February 28

ROBBERY

Two New Rochelle teens, ages 17 and 16, walking on North Avenue, were approached by four men who demanded their money and valuables and threatened to shoot.  No weapon was displayed.  The victims gave the men $20 cash and two cell phones valued at $90 and $50.  378 North Avenue.  February 28

A North Ave business was entered on 2/21 and a laptop computer valued at $1400 was removed.

 

BURGLARY

A North Ave business was entered on 2/21 and power tools valued at $150 were removed.

 

GRAND LARCENY

A Woodbine Ave resident reported on 2/24 jewelry missing from her residence.
