SCARSDALE

ASSISTANCE RENDERED

Police received report that a 15-month old child was locked in a vehicle on White Road.  The child’s father, an Elmsford resident, assured police that he had forgotten that he left his son in the car.  The child appeared to be unharmed. March 8

FOUND PROPERTY

$1,980 was found on the floor of Balducci’s on Palmer Avenue.  A cashier reported it and gave it to police for safekeeping.  The man to whom the cash belonged, a Larchmont resident, came forward the following day to claim it.  After viewing video surveillance and interviewing the man, police returned the money to its rightful owner.  March 8

LARCENY

A NYC woman claimed that two bags of clothing recently purchased at LF, were missing from her 2008 BMW.  She returned to the store later in the day, where the bags were returned to her.  An unknown man had come into the store earlier with the bags, claiming they were placed in his car erroneously. Boniface Circle.  March 9

FIRE

A 1994 BMW was on fire in the driveway of a residence. Scarsdale Fire Department extinguished the flames. 57 Walworth Avenue.  March 10

LARCENY ATTEMPT

A woman reported her 2001 VW, parked in her driveway at Colvin Road, had a damaged front door lock.  Nothing was missing from her vehicle.  March 11

ACCIDENT

A woman driving a 2003 BMW on Saxon Woods Road crossed the double yellow lines, striking a telephone pole in her pathway.  She sustained injuries to the back of her head and wrists and was taken to White Plains Hospital for observation.  March 11

MULTIPLE LARCENIES FROM MOTOR VEHICLES IN ONE NEIGHBORHOOD

Scarsdale residents suffered a series of larcenies last week, believed to have been the work of one individual, who struck several times between the night of March 11th and early morning of the 12th.  The culprit remains unknown at this time. Two vehicles, a 2005 Acura MDX and a 2010 VW Gulf, on Sylvan & Vernon Roads., had driver’s side windows smashed and items taken including a GPS, Bluetooth, iPod, and saxophone.  A 2008 BMW parked in a resident’s driveway on Sycamore Road, despite being locked and alarmed, had scratches to the driver’s side window and the trunk opened and its contents placed on the ground. Two residents of Black Birch Lane reported larceny attempts as well.  Both a 2008 Ford Edge and 2006 Toyota reportedly had front passenger windows smashed, despite being locked and alarmed.  An iPod was stolen from the Ford but nothing was missing from the Toyota, although the car was ransacked.  

LARCENY

Two employees of Scarsdale Medical Group reported personal items missing from work. Popham Road.  March 12

BURGLARY

An Oakstwain residence was burglarized.  The front door appears to have been kicked in and the home heavily ransacked.  Missing items include a 26" Sony TV from the living room, silverware, cash, and jewelry.  This matter is under investigation.  March 12

BURGLARY

Central Parking System on Overhill Road was burglarized on March 13.  Thieves absconded with $680 in cash from the register.  The AC unit appeared to have been pushed in to make entry. 

 

TOWN OF MAMARONECK

MULTIPLE LARCENIES FROM MOTOR VEHICLES IN ONE NEIGHBORHOOD

Five vehicles were broken into from March 9th-10th in a string of larcenies within a one-mile radius.  Police believe it was the work of one individual.  Two vehicles were targeted on Evergreen Lane; one vehicle had the front passenger window smashed and an American Express card was taken from a wallet left there.  The other vehicle was unlocked and had an iPod stolen.  Another vehicle on Valley Stream Road East had the front passenger window smashed and cash was stolen.  Several cars on Rocky Hollow Drive, Eton Road, and Winding Brook Road were unlocked and had GPS devices stolen.  Lastly, a vehicle on South Ridge Road that was unlocked was heavily tossed, but nothing was missing.  All cars were parked in residential driveways.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF-3RD DEGREE

A Rock Ridge Road homeowner discovered his mailbox, which had been damaged, had also been placed on top of his vehicle.  March 12

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF-3RD DEGREE

A 30-year old man noticed damage to his front right and rear right tires, which had been parked at North Chatsworth Avenue.  Apparently, the tires had been slashed, but it is unclear if it was intentional damage or damage sustained from running over something sharp.  March 12

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY

The hinges on a front door appeared to have been tampered with at a business at 615 5th Avenue.  No access was gained and nothing was missing.  March 13

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF-3RD DEGREE

Damage was sustained to several vehicles as a result of a damaged lock at the garage at Larchmont Acres.  A woman reported dents on the quarter panel and passenger side window of a 2001 BMW that appeared to have damaged by a blunt instrument.  Additionally, the woman also reported a scratch to the driver’s side door on her 2001 Nissan.  March 14

STORM-RELATED INCIDENTS

Town police received approximately 100 storm-related calls over the March 14-15 weekend.

 

VILLAGE OF MAMARONECK

LARCENY

A customer of Beach Bum Tanning on East Boston Post Road reported her watch missing on March 9th.  She had visited the establishment on March 7th and, had removed her watch prior to beginning her tanning session.  When she emerged from the tanning bed, her watch was gone. 

LARCENY

Two phones, a cellular and a landline, were reported missing from a residence at 751 Old White Plains Road.  The resident, a 26-year old man, claims a friend of his pilfered the phones during a period of drunken revelry on March 10th. 

DWI

A 37-year old man was pulled over for speeding on East Boston Post Road.  The officer had probable cause to suspect DWI and the man was arrested.  He took the Datamaster test and was charged with two counts of DWI and speeding.  March 11

ACCIDENT-PEDESTRIAN

A 29 year-old female pedestrian was hit by a 2009 Honda.  The 33 year-old female driver was turning left onto Grand Street at Mamaroneck Avenue, when she hit the victim crossing the intersection.  The victim was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. March 11

FIGHT

Two men in their twenties were involved in a fistfight with an unknown man in front of a residence on Mamaroneck Avenue.  All parties were intoxicated and, thus far, police have been unable to get an accurate picture of what transpired.  March 13

HIT & RUN

A female pedestrian was hit by a car traveling eastbound on West Boston Post Road. The victim was struck on her right hip, knocking her to the ground near the Duck Inn. The driver sped away without stopping.  The pedestrian suffered a few aches and pains but did not sustain any injuries.  March 14

Village police received approximately 42 storm-related calls over the March 14-15 weekend. 

 

RYE

SUSPICIOUS PERSON

A woman living on reported a suspicious vehicle pulling into her driveway and a man entering the backyard with a flashlight. The man eventually left, but 5 minutes after this occurrence a white van pulled up to the front of the house. No further report of suspicious activity. Dogwood Lane.   March 4

HIT AND RUN

A Rye High School teacher reported an unidentified vehicle hitting his car, damaging it, and driving away.  March 10

DAMAGED PROPERTY

During the weekend storm, a woman on Linberg Ave reported a fallen tree had hit her car.  March 14

NEW ROCHELLE

FELONY ASSAULT

A 41 year-old New Rochelle man was arrested and charged with felony assault and multiple misdemeanors for allegedly hitting his girlfriend with a belt and half-full soda bottle, as well as ripping a chain from her neck and refusing to allow her to leave the home.  188 Lincoln Avenue.  March 14

MISDEMEANOR ASSAULT

A 29 year-old Mount Vernon woman was arrested in connection with a fight at New Roc City.  The 36 year-old NYC victim was punched in the face by the suspect, during a group dispute that devolved into a fight.  The victim suffered swelling above and below the left eye, and refused medical attention.   33 Le Count Place.  March 14

MULTIPLE BURGLARIES IN ONE NEIGHBORHOOD

Three North end homes were the scenes of burglaries and/or attempted burglaries that police are investigating together.  Resident at 84 Belleau Avenue noticed unspecified jewelry missing and found a basement bathroom window broken and left open.  Residents at 183 Robert Drive returned home to discover the home ransacked and jewelry missing from bedroom drawers.  The rear basement storm door lock had been broken.  And police responded to a burglary alarm at 231 Overlook Road and found a rear window open.  Jewelry was found on the ground near window, which police believe was dropped by suspects on the way out as police were arriving at the scene.  March 12-13

A laptop computer (value $2500) reported missing from 1996 Ford Explorer parked at 1 Library Plaza.  March 14

Four wheels taken from a 1998 Acura Integra parked in the rear of 120 Sickles Avenue.  March 14

STORM-RELATED INCIDENTS

Police in New Rochelle received 176 calls on March 14-15 regarding storm-related hazards.  That number does not include fire calls from the same storm.
