CRIME OF THE WEEK:

A motorist reported to Scarsdale police that a loose horse was on Mamaroneck Road heading toward Mamaroneck at about 10:45 a.m.

 

 

      

 

 Upon arrival, police were advised that the horse was retrieved and placed back in its stable without incident. July 31

 

 

VILLAGE OF LARCHMONT

 

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

A Circle Ave resident reported late on 7/24 that he heard the sound glass braking, and upon investigating discovered that someone had thrown a rock through a window of his residence.

LARCENY

A Soundview Drive resident reported on 7/25 that sometime during the overnight hours someone entered his vehicle and removed $12 in change there from.

LARCENY

A Mayhew Ave resident reported on 7/25 that sometime during the overnight hours someone entered her unlocked vehicle and removed a GPS and an iPod, valued at $500, there from.

LARCENY

A Iselin Terrace resident reported on 7/25 that sometime during the overnight hours someone removed a bicycle, valued at $400, from his driveway.  He further reported that someone rummaged through both his vehicles that were parked in the driveway of the residence.

LARCENY ARREST

Larchmont Police Officers responded to a report of a larceny in progress at the Larchmont Library on 7/27. Officers arrested Christopher DIFOLCO, 44 of Mamaroneck as he attempted to leave after removing copper pipes and fittings from the Library. He was charged with petit larceny and possession of stolen property, as well as two vehicle and traffic law misdemeanors, arraigned and remanded to the Westchester County Jail on $2500 bail.

LARCENY

A New Rochelle resident reported on 7/27 that his bicycle, valued at $100, was removed from the bicycle rack on Lot 3.

PENAL LAW ARREST

A Mamaroneck Town man was arrested on 7/29 after he sprayed a 12-year-old male in the face with a noxious substance following an altercation. Simeon AMON, 63, was charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Unlawful Possession of Noxious Substance. He was arraigned and released on his own recognizance.

 

 

TOWN OF MAMARONECK

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY
A Forest Avenue resident came home at about 11 p.m. and noticed a man hiding in the bushes. The resident confronted the man, who fled. Police arrived to find a screen removed from a basement window, but no entry was gained. July 27

LEAVING THE SCENE OF AN ACCIDENT
A Myrtle Boulevard man said he parked his 2000 Hyundai at about 4 p.m. on July 28. When he returned the next day, the driver’s side mirror had been hit by an unknown car. July 29

LARCENY
A window was broken and a GPS, valued at $100, and a digital camera, valued at $200, were taken from a car parked on Marbourne Drive sometime between 7:30 p.m. and 9 a.m. July 30

GRAND LARCENY
A windown was broken and a Vera Wang wallet, several credit cards, a Connecticut driver’s license, a U.S. passport and a camera were taken from a car parked on Fairway Drive sometime between 10:30 p.m. and 8:20 a.m.  July 30

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF
A car window on a 2007 Lincoln Navigator parked on Carriage House Lane was broken sometime between 11:30 p.m. and 6:45 a.m. July 30

GRAND LARCENY
A window was broken on a car parked on Wagon Wheel Road, and  a computer, an iPod, a bag and several computer accessories, valued at more than $6,300 were taken sometime between 6:30 p.m and 6:45 a.m. July 30

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF
A window was broken on a car parked on Old White Plains Road between 10 p.m. and 6:15 a.m., but nothing was taken. July 30

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF
A rock was thrown through a window of a Weaver Street home at about 10:30 p.m. July 30

ATTEMPTED LARCENY
Two Brooklyn men were arrested for attempted petit larceny at CVS at 1310 Boston Post Road at about 1:40 p.m. The men attempted to take multiple bottles of Prilosec and Mucinex, valued at approximately $150. Their actions were caught on a store video. They were arrested before they left. July 31

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF
A Byrd Street resident said an unknown person egged her house overnight. She also reported that several times over the past two weeks an unknown person had been leaving fecal matter on her porch. July 27
 
ILLEGAL DUMPING
Garbage was illegally dumped in a parking lot near the tennis courts at Rye Recreation Park on Midland Avenue. July 27

MISSING PROPERTY
A 49-year-old Gramercy Avenue woman said she lost a diamond from her ring, probably while playing vollebyall at Oakland Beach between 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. the night before. July 27

HIT AND RUN
A car belonging to the Rye fire chief was hit while parked on Nursery Lane at about 5:30 p.m. July 27

FRAUD
A 74-year-old Rye Beach Avenue woman said a woman is using a Macy’s credit card with her social security number. July 28

ASSIST CITIZEN
A 36-year-old Centre Street man said Chase Bank notified him on July 23 of unusual activity to his account. Wire transfers in the amount of $12,100 had been initiated online, and he closed the account. On July 27, he was contacted by a phone company saying someone had used his date of birth and social security number in an attempt to open an account. July 28

ANIMAL COMPLAINT
A rabid raccoon was put down on Theodore Fremd Avenue and Playland Access Drive. July 28

A Top Sail Lane man said a deer was hung up in his fence and severely injured at about 9:30 a.m. July 29

DISORDERLY CONDUCT
A 30-year-old Bronx man was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, driving while intoxicated and disorderly conduct after police received a report of an intoxicated man disrupting traffic on North Street near Theodore Fremd Avenue at about 7 p.m. When police arrived, the man was standing in the roadway and nearly caused a car accident. The man had boarded a county bus and was asked to exit. The man was allegedly uncooperative with police and at first refused to provide identification. Police said they detected an odor of alcohol on the man. Upon further investigation, a Glenndale Road resident said he was jogging and the man was driving a white van that allegedly swerved and almost struck the jogger. He then saw the man go to the bus stop and obstruct traffic. July 29

SUSPENDED LICENSE
A 38-year-old Norwalk, Conn., woman was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle after police observed her going 42 in a 30 mph zone on Peck Avenue at about 9 a.m. July 30

LARCENY
A Barlow Lane woman said she left her purse unattended in a classroom at Milton School between 8:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. When she returned, $90 in cash was missing. July 30

TRESPASSING
A woman said she saw two suspicious males on a private beach near Brevoort Lane and Shore Road just before midnight. The woman told police one of the men was on the ground, curled up and possibly passed out. She told police she said hello and shined her flashlight on them but got no response. She then left the beach. July 31

ASSIST CITIZEN
A 52-year-old West Haven, Conn., man fell while riding his bike on Boston Post Road and Greenhaven Road. He was treated for minor injuries at the scene. July 31

DWAI
A 22-year-old Port Chester man was charged with driving while ability impaired, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle with obstructed vision after police received a report of three highly intoxicated males in a gray Chevy Cavalier in the area of Rye Town Park at about 4:45 p.m. August 1

ABANDONED VEHICLE
A white Jeep Cherokee was apparently abandoned on Playland Access Drive. The seats and most of the interior fixtures had been removed. August 2

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF
A woman said she noticed graffiti on the playground equipment behind Rye Recreation Park on Midland Avenue at about 4:30 p.m. August 2

LARCENY
Port Chester Police said they had apprehended a man allegedly involved in fraudulent activity at TD Bank. The subject had allegedly also passed a check for $3,600 at about 2:10 p.m. using New Jersey identification at the bank’s Rye branch. August 2

SCARSDALE

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF
Wooden stands near the bleachers at Dean Field at Scarsdale High School were broken sometime over the weekend, and broken and empty beer bottles were found in the area. Police believe the damage was caused by youths, but no arrests have been made. July 26

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT
A Magnolia Road resident said the sliding-glass door in her basement had been broken and she was unsure if it had been an attempted break-in. Patrol responded at about 5 p.m. and found no evidence of forced entry. Police checked the interior of the house and conduced a canvass of neighboring homes and found everything to be in order. July 26

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A Taunton Road resident said a suspicious black Nissan minivan with an unknown male inside had been parked opposite his residence for 40 minutes at about 5:40 p.m. Police interviewed the person, who had been gathering items from their mother’s recently sold home for tag sale. July 26

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT
A Larchmont resident said she saw a black SUV going north on Weaver Street in front of Quaker Ridge School possibly strike an elderly male jogger at about 8 p.m. She said the car did not stop and got on the Hutchinson River Parkway heading south. Police checked with nearby hospitals but found no patients who had been struck by a car. July 26

AUTO ACCIDENT
An Austin, Texas man was issued a summons for failing to yield to cyclists after striking two bicyclists on Post Road at about 9 p.m. According to police, the man was driving north on Post Road in the right-hand lane when the accident occurred. The bicyclists were transported to White Plains Hospital with unspecified injuries. July 26

 

ANIMAL COMPLAINT

A caller said he saw a coyote in the area of Colonial Road and Mamaroneck Road at about 9 a.m. Police were unable to locate the animal. July 27

 

AUTO ACCIDENT

A Woodruff Avenue man was taken to White Plains Hospital after driving his car into a utility pole on Crane Road at about 10:30 a.m. July 27

 

IDENTITY THEFT

A Black Birch Lane resident said an unknown person withdrew money from his Chase Bank account in Florham Park, N.J. July 27

A Morris Lane resident said an unknown person hacked into her computer. July 27

 

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A River Road resident said unknown persons left debris on her property. Police found several black trash bags on the resident’s lawn at about 6 p.m. Police helped the woman move the bags to the edge of the driveway for trash pick-up. July 27

 

ANIMAL COMPLAINT

A Lee Road resident said a fox ran across Grand Boulevard and onto Hyatt Field at about 6:15 p.m. Police searched the park area but could not find the animal. July 27

 

ANIMAL COMPLAINT

A caller reported a coyote in the backyard of a Brambach Road residence at about 7:45 p.m. Police arrived and spoke with several witnesses, who said they saw a fox or coyote in the area. Hyatt Field was checked with negative results. July 27

 

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A Farley Road resident complained that a limousine was parked in the area for the past three nights. The car was gone upon police arrival. July 27

 

NOISE COMPLAINT

A caller complained of loud music coming from the Saxon Grill at about 10:30 p.m. Police alerted the staff of the complaint, and they agreed to lower the music. July 27

 

DISORDERLY PERSON

An unruly defendant at the Scarsdale Village courthouse was transported to Westchester County Jail at about 11:30 a.m. July 28

 

GAS LEAK

Police placed barricades at several intersections after an auger went into a gas line in front of a Hillview Drive home at about 2:15 p.m. July 28

 

FRAUD

A Bradford Road resident said an unknown person wrote fraudulent checks on her Chase Bank checking account. July 28

 

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A Mercer Court resident said she heard someone at her front door at about 11 p.m. Police checked the area and found no sign of an attempt to break in. July 28

 

GAS LEAK

A caller reported a strong smell of natural gas in the area of East Parkway at about 11:15 a.m. Police found a gasoline spill on Southbound East Parkway. The fire department treated the area. July 29

 

BURGLARY ATTEMPT

An Olmsted Road resident discovered a small hole in her basement window near her alarm system. Police said the hole appeared to be perfectly drilled and no glass was found at the scene. July 29

 

AUTO ACCIDENT

A pedestrian was struck by a car on Popham Road at about 1:15 p.m. Police said the pedestrian was in the crosswalk but walking against the signal when a 2007 BMW struck her. The pedestrian complained of pain in her foot and had scrapes on her elbow. She refused medical attention. July 29

A caller said the benches at Greenacres School were damaged. July 29

 

NOISE COMPLAINT

A Ridgecrest West resident complained of loud music and people yelling at about midnight. Police checked the area with negative results. July 30

A Rock Creek Lane resident said she heard noises, possibly people, in her backyard at about 12:30 a.m. Police checked the area and found everything to be in order. July 30

 

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A Murray Hill resident said a Mercedes was parked in his driveway at about 8 a.m. Police spoke with the driver, who said she was waiting for a tag sale to start at the residence. When told that there was no tag sale there, the driver checked her information and determined it was at a neighbor’s home. July 30

 

IDENTITY THEFT

A Secor Road resident said a credit card had been opened in her name without her permission. July 30

 

ANIMAL COMPLAINT

A Rock Creek Lane resident said she saw a sick skunk in her neighbor’s yard at about 4:30 p.m. Police were unable to locate the animal. July 30

 

LARCENY

A Coralyn Road resident said an unknown person entered her car sometime over the past few days and took her GPS and several quarters. The car was locked but the windows were left partially open. July 30

 

AUTO ACCIDENT

A New Rochelle man refused medical treatment after he was hit by a car in the DeCicco Family Markets parking lot on East Parkway at about 9 p.m. The driver of the Volkswagen Jetta said she didn’t see the pedestrian as she was backing out of her parking space. July 30

 

NOISE COMPLAINT

A Nelson Road resident complained of youths playing basketball at Edgewood School at about 10:15 p.m. Police located the small group of youths and told them the playground was closed. They left without incident. July 30

 

NOISE COMPLAINT

A Christie Place resident complained of loud music in the area at about 11:45 p.m. Police responded and found all to be in good order. July 30

 

ANIMAL COMPLAINT

A passerby told police that there was a stray kitten behind Zachy’s Wine and Liquor Store on East Parkway at about 11:45 a.m. Police were unable to catch the kitten, but a volunteer from the humane society responded and captured the kitten. It was taken to the New Rochelle Humane Society. July 31

 

NOISE COMPLAINT

A resident said she heard two men arguing loudly in the area of Aspen Road and Benedict Road at about 3:30 p.m. Police checked the area and found all to be in order. July 31

 

ASSIST CITIZEN

A Brite Avenue resident said there was an unknown man laying in the roadway in front of her home. Police found the subject in the street and noticed a smell of alcohol. The man was transported to his Valley Road home. August 1

 

LARCENY

A Richbell Road woman said she discovered her wallet and credit cards were missing after a visit to Starbucks. The woman said she immediately canceled the cards, but one had been used to purchase gas at an undisclosed Exxon Mobil Station. August 1

A Berwick Road resident said an unknown person rang his doorbell at about 11:30 p.m. Police searched the area with negative results. August 1

HARASSMENT
A Mamaroneck man said he was being harassed by a former co-worker, who was claiming he played a part in her firing. July 27

YOUTH COMPLAINT
Police received a complaint of youths smoking on the Mamaroneck High School grounds at about 8 a.m. July 27

TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS
A 54-year-old Yonkers man was stopped for speeding at about noon. He was allowed to leave before it was discovered that he was operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. July 27

IDENTITY THEFT
Using a fake Pennsylvania driver’s license, a man attempted to withdraw $3,800 from an account at TD Bank at 1521 East Boston Post Road. The matter remains under investigation. July 27

HIT AND RUN
An elderly woman backed out of her parking spot at the Mamaroneck Diner on East Boston Post Road and struck another car before leaving the scene at about 6 p.m. The victim was taken to Sound Shore Medical Center complaining of pain to her knee. July 27

YOUTH COMPLAINT
An 18-year-old Mamaroneck man was arrested for disorderly conduct after police received a report of loud youths in the Florence Street Park just before 1 a.m. Police said the man was uncooperative with police and used profanity. July 28

TRESPASSING
A 27-year-old homeless man was charged with stalking, criminal trespassing and criminal mischief at about 2 a.m. on West Boston Post Road. Police said the man was trying to get his former girlfriend to open her door and ended up breaking a window. July 28

DWI
A 60-year-old Stamford, Conn., man was charged with driving while intoxicated after allegedly running into a guardrail on Interstate 95 at about 9:30 p.m. Police said a passerby called 911 after seeing the man pull into the Calico Corners parking lot at 1040 Mamaroneck Avenue. Police said there was obvious damage to the front and side of his 2008 Mercedes Benz. July 27

BICYCLIST STRUCK
A Village of Mamaroneck police officer was struck by a car while he was responding to a report of a motor vehicle accident on Mamaroneck Avenue at about 10 p.m. Police said the 31-year-old driver was pulling into a parking spot when the collision occurred. Police Officer Anthony LeDonne, who was sent flying over the hood of the car, was taken to Sound Shore Medical Center, where he was treated and released. No charges were filed. July 27

PROPERTY DAMAGE
A Bishop Avenue man said he was awakened by the sound of glass breaking in his room at about 8:30 a.m. He got up and found a second-floor window shattered and a large piece of steel on the floor. Upon further investigation, police discovered that an Amtrak train had malfunctioned on the nearby tracks, sending parts of a wheel assembly flying throughout the area. A car window parked on the street was also shattered. July 28

LARCENY
A window on a 2003 Chevy pick-up truck was broken and the radio was taken while it was parked at a Gulf Station on East Boston Post Road. July 28

INTOXICATED PERSONS
A 46-year-old Mamaroneck Town woman and a 56-year-old homeless man were taken to Sound Shore Medical Center after police received a report of intoxicated people on Madison Street at about 3:15 p.m. July 28

SUSPENDED LICENSE
A 25-year-old-Bronx man was charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license at about 6:20 p.m. on Mamaroneck Avenue. July 28

DWI
A 48-year-old Larchmont woman was charged with driving while intoxicated after police saw her drive across the sidewalk to avoid barricades for a block party at Halstead Avenue and Mamaroneck Avenue at about 10:30 p.m. July 29

TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS
A 36-year-old New Canaan, Conn., man was charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration and speeding at about 6:45 a.m. on Mamaroneck Avenue. July 30

A 49-year-old Bridgeport, Conn., man was charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and speeding at about 7:15 a.m. on Mamaroneck Avenue. July 30

TRAFFIC VIOLATION
A 41-year-old New Rochelle man was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle on Palmer Avenue at about 4:30 p.m. July 30

OPEN CONTAINER
A 21-year-old Mamaroneck man and a 47-year-old Mamaroneck man were charged with having open containers of alcohol in Columbus Park at about 8:20 p.m. July 30

DISPUTE
A man was transported to Sound Shore Medical Center at about 9:15 p.m. after he was allegedly hit with a bottle during a dispute with another man on Halstead Avenue. Police said the man suffered a 2-inch laceration under his left eye. He did not wish to pursue charges. July 30

BOATING WHILE INTOXICATED
A 40-year-old Long Island man was charged with boating while intoxicated, operating an unregistered boat and operating without navigational lights at about 10:45 p.m. in Mamaroneck Harbor. Police said Harbor Patrol stopped the 18-foot vessel when they noticed it entering the harbor with no lights. July 30

TRAFFIC VIOLATION
A 21-year-old Bronx man was charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license at about 2:30 a.m. on Mamaroneck Avenue. July 31

SHOPLIFTING
A 30-year-old New Rochelle woman was charged with shoplifting at Miller’s on Mamaroneck Avenue after allegedly trying to take a Kiddy Board, valued at $60, at about 5 p.m. July 31

TRAFFIC VIOLATION
A 20-year-old Bronx man was charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license at about 7 p.m. on Madison Street. July 31

LARCENY
A bike was stolen from the driveway of a Second Street residence at about 8:50 p.m. August 1

TRAFFIC VIOLATION
A 20-year-old Mamaroneck man was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle on Mamaroneck Avenue at about 1:30 a.m. August 2

IDENTITY THEFT
Bertie Alston, a 67-year-old Bronx woman, was charged with attempted grand larceny, criminal possession of a forged instrument and identity theft, all felonies, at Chase Bank on East Boston Post Road at about 3 p.m. Police said Alston, using a fake Maryland driver’s license, deposited money into an account and then tried to withdraw a larger sum from the same account. The woman also allegedly had a fake U.S. Bank Visa Card with the victim’s name on it. August 2

DWI
A 51-year-old Greenwich, Conn., man was charged with driving while intoxicated at about 4:30 p.m. on Nostrand Avenue. Police said they saw the man run a red light. August 2

HIT AND RUN
A 2009 Accura was struck by an unknown vehicle in the A&P parking lot on Mamaroneck Avenue at about 5:20 p.m. August 2

OPEN CONTAINER
A 56-year-old homeless man was charged with having an open container of alcohol twice in one day. At about 9:45 a.m., the man was charged on Phillips Park Road. At about 11 p.m., he was charged again at the train station. August 3
