TOWN OF MAMARONECK

 

BURGLARY

An unknown person broke into a Robins Nest Lane home through a rear door sometime between Oct. 23 and Oct. 24 and took $6,800 in cash. Police said they have no suspects at this time, and the matter remains under investigation. Oct. 24

 

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

A window on a car parked on Jenny Close was shattered but nothing was taken. Oct. 26

 

DWI

Severiano Ortiz, a 55-year-old Bronx man, was charged with felony driving while intoxicated for having a prior DWI arrest at about 7:45 p.m. in the Hommocks School parking lot. Oct. 24

 

GRAND LARCENY

A 23-year-old man coming out of the Vine Street tunnel at about 5:45 p.m. was allegedly pick-pocketed. The victim said his wallet, which contained a $205 bus ticket, his social security card, a Metro card and a debit card, was taken. Oct. 28

 

PETTY LARCENY

Two boys who were not identified because they are juveniles were allegedly attempting to take items from lockers at Hommocks School. The matter was referred to Family Court. Oct. 27

 

PETTY LARCENY

An 18-year-old Carol Lane man said a speaker, valued at $200, an iPod, valued at $300, a PlayStation, valued at $200, and an ice hockey stick, valued at $75, were taken from his car sometime between 10 p.m. on Oct 26 and 12:45 p.m. on Oct. 27. The man said his car was parked in his driveway, and he noticed the tailgate was open and discovered his property was missing. Oct. 27

 

PETTY LARCENY

A Jenny Close resident said a driver-side window on his car was shattered and a GPS, valued at $200, was taken sometime since Oct.  21. Oct. 27

 

PETTY LARCENY

A 48-year-old Wagon Wheel Road resident said a window on her car was shattered and a GPS, valued at $150, was taken sometime overnight. Oct. 27

 

PETTY LARCENY

A 71-year-old Carriage House Lane resident said a cosmetic bag and a clothing bag were taken from his car sometime overnight. Oct. 27

 

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

A 51-year-old Carol Lane resident said a window on her car was shattered sometime overnight, but nothing was taken. Oct. 27

 

GRAND LARCENY

Siobhan M. Nieto, a 23-year-old Larchmont woman and CVS employee, was charged with grand larceny, a Class E felony, for allegedly refunding $1,909.56 of CVS charges to her personal credit card between July and September of 2010.

 

IDENTITY THEFT

A 47-year-old Scarsdale man said an unknown person made fraudulent charges on his American Express card. Oct. 26

 

AGGRAVATED HARASSMENT

A 77-year-old Judson Street resident said he received numerous phone calls from an unknown party between Oct. 21 and Oct. 25.

 

VILLAGE OF LARCHMONT

LARCENY

A Beach Ave resident reported on 10/25 than numerous fraudulent charges had been posted on his credit card.

LARCENY

A Pryer Lane resident reported on 10/26 that sometime during the overnight hours someone removed Halloween decorations, valued at $90, from her property. 

VEHICLE IMPOUND

A scofflaw vehicle with $575 in outstanding fines was impounded and towed from Lot 10 on 10/28.

LARCENY ARREST

Larchmont Police Officers responded to a reported larceny in progress at a Larchmont Ave establishment on 10/28 and took a male suspect into custody.  The suspect had removed merchandise valued at $80 from the store.  The store owner declined prosecution.

LARCENY

A Chestnut Ave resident reported on 10/28 that his bicycle, valued at $1500, was removed during the daytime hours from the bicycle rack in Lot 1.

LARCENY

A Summit Ave resident reported on 10/20 that a Graco stroller, valued at $200, which had been left outside of his residence overnight, had been stolen.

VEHICLE & TRAFFIC LAW ARREST

A New Jersey man was arrested on 10/22 and charged with operating with suspended driving privileges after he was observed operating his vehicle on Chatsworth Ave.  The operator released on his own recognizance

 

 

 

VILLAGE OF MAMARONECK

 

LARCENY

Three males allegedly entered the CVS at 1100 East Boston Post Road at about 1:45 p.m. and left with $600 in hair products without paying.  No arrests have been made. Oct. 22

 

AUTO ACCIDENT

A 42-year-old Mamaroneck woman was transported to Sound Shore Medical Center with pain in her upper arm after a two-car accident involving a taxi on Halstead Avenue at about 2:45 p.m. Police said the woman was a passenger in the cab. Oct. 22

 

YOUTH COMPLAINT

Police received a report of youths congregating in the parking lot at 1035 East Boston Post Road at about 9:15 p.m. They were gone upon police arrival. Oct. 22

 

NOISE COMPLAINT

A Palmer Avenue homeowner agreed to turn down the music after a neighbor complained about the noise level at about 10:15 p.m. Oct. 22

 

SUSPICIOUS PERSON

A Halstead Avenue resident said a suspicious person was on the apartment’s front steps at about 5 a.m. Police located the subject, who was lost trying to find his way home. Oct. 23

 

LARCENY

A window of a car parked in a Center Avenue lot was shattered sometime overnight and tools with a value of about $1,500 were taken. Oct. 23

 

LARCENY

A bike valued at $200 was taken from a Center Avenue driveway sometime overnight. Oct. 24

 

ANIMAL BITE

An 11-year-old Mamaroneck boy was bitten on his back by a Bichon Poodle on Grand Street at about 2:20 p.m. and taken to Sound Shore Medical Center for evaluation. The bite appeared to be minor, but police said the dog was in need of updated vaccinations. Oct. 24

 

SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE

Police received a report of a possible road rage incident involving a Ford Mustang Shelby at about 4 p.m. on Mamaroneck Avenue. Police were unable to locate the car. Oct. 24

 

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

A car parked on Wagner Avenue was egged by an unknown person sometime between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. Oct. 24

 

SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE

A caller said a suspicious white pickup truck had been driving around the Raleigh Road area for the past hour at about 5 a.m. Police located the vehicle, which was being driven by a newspaper delivery person. Oct. 24

 

ANIMAL COMPLAINT

A coyote was reported walking on the sidewalk of the North Barry Avenue Extension at about 7:45 a.m. Oct. 25

 

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

Graffiti was found on a wall of a Waverly Avenue building at about 8:20 a.m. Oct. 25

 

LARCENY

A leaf blower, valued at $350, was taken sometime overnight from a car parked in a Fayette Avenue lot. Oct. 25

 

ARREST

A 51-year-old Bronx man was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle at about 1 a.m. on Halstead Avenue. Oct. 26

 

INTOXICATED PERSON

A caller reported an intoxicated person on Halstead Avenue at about 11 a.m. The man was sent on his way. Oct. 26

 

LARCENY

A window on a car that was parked on Mamaroneck Avenue was broken sometime between Oct. 23 and Oct. 25, and golf clubs valued at $2,100 were taken. Oct. 26

 

DISPUTE

Police mediated a verbal dispute over money at about 11:15 p.m. on Prospect Avenue and sent all the parties on their way. Oct. 26

 

LARCENY

Jewelry, valued at $20,000, was reported missing from a Rushmore Avenue residence. It was believed to have been taken sometime between Sept. 1 and Oct. 6. Police said there was no sign of forced entry and no arrests have been made. Oct. 27

 

RYE

 

LARCENY

A New Rochelle man said building supplies, worth more than $900, were taken from a Bradford Avenue job site. The man said the items were chained to the inside of a garage. Oct. 22

 

LARCENY

A Ridgeland Manor resident said a black pearl necklace, valued at $1,500, was taken from his unlocked car sometime between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. the previous night. Oct. 25

 

LARCENY

A Stuyvesant Avenue resident said her son’s Specialized Hardrock Disc bike, valued at $646, was taken from the rack at Rye Middle School sometime over the weekend. The woman said her son locked the bike to a rack on Oct. 22, and when he returned on Oct. 25, it was missing. Oct. 25

 

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A Theodore Fremd Avenue resident said the ignition on her car was damaged sometime between Oct. 18 and Oct. 27. There were no witnesses and no suspects at this time. Oct. 27

 

PROPERTY LOST

A 42-year-old Florence Avenue woman said she withdrew $6,077 from her bank and lost it sometime during the course of her errands. Oct. 27

 

SCARSDALE

 

ANIMAL COMPLAINT

A Deerfield Lane resident reported a coyote in the area at about 3:40 p.m. Police were unable to locate the animal. Oct. 18

 

LARCENY

A man said he left his bike unlocked in a rack near the train station on East Parkway at about 6:30 a.m. When he returned that night, it had been taken. Oct. 18

 

SUSPICIOUS PERSON

A Harvest Drive resident reported a suspicious person walking around the area at about 7:30 p.m. wearing glasses and carrying a clipboard. Police checked the area but were unable to locate the subject. Oct. 18

 

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A Black Birch Lane resident asked police to investigate a strange beeping noise she heard in her garage at about 11:30 p.m. Police determined the source of the beeping was a Verizon Fios box and pressed the “silence” button. Oct. 18

 

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A Walworth Avenue resident said an unknown man was on his front porch at about 5 a.m. ringing his doorbell. Police located a 59-year-old White Plains man, who said he was lost and trying to get home. The man was cooperative and willing to take a taxi home. Police advised him not to disturb Scarsdale residents in the future. Oct. 19

 

ANIMAL COMPLAINT

A caller reported an unknown animal carcass in the middle of Post Road at about 8 a.m. The Highway Department was advised of the deceased raccoon. Oct. 19

 

ANIMAL COMPLAINT

A school guard reported a coyote in the area of Post Road and Huntington Avenue at about 9:15 a.m. Police were unable to locate the animal. Oct. 19

 

ANIMAL COMPLAINT

A caller reported a raccoon in the area of Lincoln Road and Vanderbilt Road at about 9:20 a.m. Police were unable to locate the animal. Oct. 19

 

ASSIST CITIZEN

A woman who was visiting the library locked her 15-month-old son in the backseat of her car at about 11:15 a.m.  An employee from Heathcote Gulf unlocked the door. Oct. 19

 

ANIMAL COMPLAINT

A caller reported a coyote in the area of Reynal Crossing at about 1:40 p.m. Police were unable to locate the animal. Oct. 19

 

ANIMAL COMPLAINT

A coyote was seen in a Black Walnut Road yard at about 4:20 p.m. Police were unable to locate the animal. Oct. 19

 

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A caller complained about a man sitting in a black vehicle outside her house for an extended period of time at about 5:30 a.m. Police arrived and found the car to be parked legally. A paper delivery person was inside and told police he was reviewing his route. He apologized for causing a stir and left the area. Oct. 20

 

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A caller reported strangers on Broadmoor Road at about 10 a.m. trying to hand out flyers. The caller said two of the strangers were women with baby strollers and the other was a man dressed in a suit. Police were unable to locate the strangers. Oct. 20

 

LARCENY

A Heathcote Road resident said a brown leather chest containing 14 pieces of silver flatware valued at about $3,000 was missing from her attic. She said she last saw the chest about a month ago. The home is up for sale, and police said numerous people have been in and out of the residence. Oct. 20

 

ANIMAL COMPLAINT

Police received several calls around 1:45 p.m. about a coyote walking through the property at 128 Carthage Road. Police arrived and saw the animal as it ran away scared. It did not seem sick or aggressive. Oct. 20

A Vanderbilt Road resident reported a sick-looking coyote walking down the street at about 6:20 p.m. Police were unable to locate the animal. Oct. 20

 

ANIMAL COMPLAINT

A caller reported a coyote in the area of Secor Road and Wynmor Road at about 7 p.m. Police were unable to locate the animal. Oct. 20

 

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A man was allegedly walking down the middle of Mamaroneck Road, slowing down traffic, at about 7 p.m.  The subject was gone upon police arrival. Oct. 20

 

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A Harcourt Road resident said an unknown person was repeatedly ringing her doorbell at about 7:30 p.m. Police checked both the interior and exterior of the residence and found all to be in order. Oct. 20

 

ANIMAL COMPLAINT

A caller reported a coyote near the Heathcote Bypass at about 8 p.m. Police were unable to locate the animal. Oct. 20

 

VILLAGE CODE COMPLAINT

A Lebanon Road resident said two men placed a flyer on his doorstep just before noon. The resident reportedly told the men that he was not interested in the flyer and that they were not allowed to leave it without a permit.  Police checked the area but were unable to locate the subjects. They observed no other flyers on other properties in the area. Oct. 21

A caller reported a coyote walking toward Mamaroneck Road at about 2:15 p.m. Police were unable to locate the animal. Oct. 21

A caller reported a coyote at the intersection of Wheelock Road and Brookby Road at about 3 p.m. Police were unable to locate the animal. Oct. 21

A caller reported a coyote in the area of Foxhall Road and Secor Road at about 3:40 p.m. Police were unable to locate the animal. Oct. 21

HIT AND RUN

A caller reported that the side-view mirror on her car was damaged while it was parked on Brite Avenue. Oct. 21

 

VILLAGE CODE COMPLAINT

A Mamaroneck Road resident reported two possible solicitors without permits in the area at about 6:40 p.m. Police were unable to locate the subjects. Oct. 21

 

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A Black Hawk Road resident said a woman, possibly a solicitor, with a flashlight knocked on her door at about 7:15 p.m. and then went on to Mayflower Road. Police located the woman on Mayflower Road. She provided proper identification as well as a valid soliciting permit from Village Hall. Oct. 21

 

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A Cooper Road resident said an unknown person had rung her doorbell twice this evening. While police were speaking with the homeowner, the doorbell rang without anyone touching it, leading all involved to believe it was an electrical issue. No further police action was necessary. Oct. 21

 

ANIMAL COMPLAINT

A caller reported a coyote in the area of Sprague Road and Lyons Road at about 10 p.m. Police were unable to locate the animal. Oct. 21

 

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A Heathcote Road resident reported a car with a Missouri license plate parked in his driveway at about 7:30 a.m. Police located the red Saab, and the owner located the Saab’s owner at a neighbor’s home. No further police action was required. Oct.  22

 

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A Cayuga Road resident complained of a suspicious BMW truck with an occupant parked in front of a neighbor’s home for an extended period of time at about 11:45 a.m. Police located the truck and its occupant, who had a work order for a garage door installation at the residence. Oct. 22

 

HAZARDOUS CONDITION

A large tree fell down across Saxon Woods Road at about 3 p.m., blocking both lanes of traffic and bringing down a utility pole with live wires. Police closed Saxon Woods Road between Black Birch Lane and Boulder Brook and remained on the scene until a Con Edison emergency crew arrived. Oct. 22

 

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A caller said two high school-aged boys were inside her Wayside Lane home at about 4:30 p.m. and didn’t belong there. Upon arrival, police observed two youths in the garage of the residence. Upon seeing police, one of them closed the garage door and started to return to the home. Police ordered the subjects out of the home. Three youths emerged, including one who was a resident of the home. The resident said the other two males were his friends and permitted inside. No further police action was necessary.  Oct. 22

 

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A caller said two males, approximately 30 years old, had walked into Red Maple Swamp and had not returned. Police checked the area at about 7 p.m. and were unable to locate the subjects. Oct. 22

 

BURGLARY

An Eton Road resident said his home was burglarized while he was out to dinner between 6:30 p.m. and 8:10 p.m., and a substantial amount of jewelry was taken. Police discovered pry marks on rear double door of the home.  The house’s alarm had not been turned on. Oct. 22

 

ANIMAL COMPLAINT

A caller reported a coyote in the area of Ardmore Road and Carthage Road at about 1:30 p.m. Police were unable to locate the animal. Oct. 23

 

DISPUTE

A Bell Road resident said she had a verbal encounter with one of her neighbors at about 5 p.m. over a safety placard in the road. The complainant said she placed the placard near the road’s edge to remind drivers to drive slowly through the area because there are many children who live on the block.  The man said he believed the placard was obstructing traffic, so he placed it on her front lawn. Police advised the man not to address traffic issues in the future and to contact police with further issues. Oct. 23

 

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

An officer on patrol observed an unoccupied blue SUV with its door wide open in the parking lot of Scarsdale Congregational Church on Heathcote Road at about 7 p.m. While on the scene, the registered owner returned and said the door had been left open by accident and nothing appeared to be missing. Oct. 23

 

SUSPICIOUS PERSON

A Dickel Road resident reported a silver Volvo with one occupant parked with its lights on outside his home at about 11 p.m. Police determined that the man was picking up his wife, who was babysitting next door. Oct. 23

 

ASSIST CITIZEN

A 15-year-old boy told police he returned to his Meadow Road home at about 11:15 p.m. and found that the alarm panel was showing two zones were activated. Police checked the interior and exterior of the home and found everything in order. Oct. 23

 

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A Griffen Avenue resident requested police assistance after apparently turning her alarm on when she left her home and finding it turned off when she returned around 1 a.m. Police checked the interior of the home and found everything in order. Oct. 24

 

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A caller reported a blue van driving around the Franklin Road area looking at houses at about 7 a.m. Police checked the area but only located a red van, which was delivering newspapers. Oct. 24

 

ANIMAL COMPLAINT

A caller reported a coyote walking on Penn Boulevard near Franklin Road at about 9 a.m. Police were unable to locate the animal. Oct. 24

 

LARCENY

A purse was reported stolen from a car parked in the Christie Place parking garage at about 5 p.m. There was no sign of a forced entry. Oct. 24

 

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A Saxon Woods Road resident said she believed someone was attempting to drill under her home at about 9:45 p.m. Police determined that the noise was coming from a basement toilet. Oct. 24

 

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A Correll Road couple said they found the door to their sunroom unlocked and ajar at about 11:30 p.m. Police found no sign of forced entry and discovered that the door’s closing mechanism may have been flawed. Police checked the interior of the home and found everything to be in order. Oct. 24

 

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A Walworth Avenue resident said someone was walking on the third floor of the residence at about 6:20 a.m. Police checked the area and determined that an animal may have entered the home through some damaged paneling in one of the rooms. Police were unable to locate the animal, but referred the homeowners to a trapper if necessary. Oct. 25
