“CRIME” OF THE WEEK: A Mahopac Falls man told Scarsdale police that he was cut off on Weaver Street near Dunkin Donuts by another car at about 3:15 p.m. , causing him to run into the median and leaving him with two flat tires and damaged

 

 

 

 

 

   

  

rims on his 2005 Dodge. Police examined the area and found it unlikely that there was room for the man to be cut off by another car. Witnesses said they saw no other car involved in the accident. Police advised the man of their findings before he drove off. Nov. 8

 

TOWN OF MAMARONECK

 LEAVING THE SCENE
A man driving a 2006 Chevy truck said he was struck by an unknown driver in a blue car at about 11:30 a.m.  at the intersection of Rockland Avenue and McKenna Place. The driver of the car allegedly fled the scene. Nov. 12

 

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

A concrete wall at Murray Avenue School was damaged sometime between 8 a.m. on Nov. 11 and 10:15 a.m. on Nov. 12.

 

HIT AND RUN

A North Chatsworth resident said his 2001 Mercedes was struck by an unknown vehicle while it was parked in Lot 3 off Myrtle Boulevard sometime between 9 p.m. on Nov. 13 and 3:45 on Nov. 14. The car was damaged on its driver-side quarter panel. Nov. 14

 

 

Village of Larchmont

PENAL LAW ARREST

A White Plains man was arrested on 11/7 after Larchmont Police Officers responded to a fight in progress call on Palmer Ave.  Josh ZAMFINO, 34, was involved in an altercation and left the area as police were arriving.  He was observed operating his vehicle and committing a traffic offense.  As the officer was issuing summonses for the observed violations, Zamfino made physical contact with the officer.   He was arrested and charged with Obstructing Governmental Administration and Resisting Arrest. His vehicle was impounded and he was released on his own recognizance.

PENAL LAW ARREST

On 11/9, Larchmont Police Detectives responded to the Rockland County Jail and executed a Warrant of Arrest on Paula IZURIETA, 29, charging felony Criminal Possession of Controlled Substance, for substance found in her possession on 6/26 after she reported her friend had gone missing in the Long Island Sound.  She was arraigned and return to custody.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

A Larchmont Police Officer while on patrol on 11/8 observed that a concrete bench in Flint Park had been damaged.

LARCENY

The manager of the CVS store on Chatsworth Ave reported on 11/11 that an individual had purchased merchandise valued at $120 using two counterfeit American Express travelers’ checks.

LARCENY

A Chestnut Ave resident reported on 11/17 that his bicycle, valued at $900, was removed during the daytime hours of 11/15 from the bicycle rack in Lot 1.

VEHICLE IMPOUND

A scofflaw vehicle with $300 in outstanding fines was impounded and towed from Wendt Ave on 11/18.

DWI ARREST

A City of Rye man was arrested during the early morning hours of 11/19 after he was observed operating his vehicle on Boston Post Rd., and committing several traffic infractions. John MAMBRINO, 47, of Oakland Beach Ave was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, and released on his own recognizance.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

A 17-year-old Mamaroneck boy was charged with disorderly conduct at McDonald’s on West Boston Post Road at about 12:30 a.m. Police said the boy was yelling and using obscene language. Oct. 11

 

AUTO ACCIDENT

A 79-year-old Harrison woman was taken to Sound Shore Medical Center complaining of pain in her right knee and a laceration on her head after losing control of her car and running into a fence and a house on Brook Street at 11:15 a.m. Nov. 11

 

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

An 82-year-old South Barry Avenue man said he lost about $50,000 in a lottery phone scam. Police wish to remind residents never to give out personal information over the phone and never to send money, even if the proposition sounds legitimate. Nov. 11

 

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A caller reported a suspicious male going through four vehicles on Shore Acres Drive at about 6:30 a.m. Nothing was reported missing. Nov. 12

 

ARREST

A 24-year-old New York City man was charged with third-degree criminal trespass, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest at about 11 a.m. on the 1000 block of West Boston Post Road. Police said the man was on the property without permission and yelling obscene language. Nov. 12

 

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

A car parked on Palmer Avenue was scratched by an unknown person on both the driver-side and passenger-side doors and quarter panels. Nov. 12

 

YOUTH COMPLAINT

A caller complained of youths making noise at about 1 a.m. on the 1000 block of West Boston Post Road. The parties were apparently smoking outside. Nov. 13

 

INTOXICATED PERSON

An apparently intoxicated woman was transported from the 1000 block of West Boston Post Road to Sound Shore Medical Center at about 1 a.m. Nov. 13

 

STALKING

A 20-year-old New Rochelle man was charged with fourth-degree stalking on Orchard Street at about 4:45 p.m. Police said the man had initiated “unwanted communication via electronic means.” Nov. 13

 

FIGHT IN PROGRESS

Police receive a report of two males fighting in the street on Wagner Avenue at about 2:45 a.m. They were gone upon police arrival. Nov. 14

 

DWI

A 19-year-old Mamaroneck man was charged with driving while intoxicated on Jefferson Avenue at about 5:15 a.m. Police had received a call about a suspicious vehicle in the area. After interviewing the suspect, they placed him under arrest. Nov. 14

 

LARCENY

Two males fled CVS on Mamaroneck Avenue after attempting to steal hair products at about 11 a.m. It was unclear if they had any merchandise in their possession when they fled. Nov. 14

 

ACCIDENT

A 15-year-old Mamaroneck girl escaped injury after being struck by a car while riding her bike on Fenimore Road at about 3:15 p.m. Nov. 14

 

DWI

A 64-year-old Larchmont man was charged with driving while intoxicated after allegedly driving his car into a tree in the area of Halstead Avenue and Mamaroneck Avenue at about 4 a.m. Nov. 15

 

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A caller reported smelling marijuana inside a Grand Street apartment building at about 7:45 p.m. Police were unable to confirm the scent. Nov. 15

 

LARCENY

A window was broken on a vehicle parked on Hillside Avenue sometime between 8 p.m. on Nov. 14 and 7:30 a.m. on Nov. 15, and lawn equipment was taken. Nov. 16

 

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

A car parked on Stanley Avenue was scratched on its passenger-side door and bumper sometime overnight. Nov. 16

 

CODE VIOLATION

An 18-year-old Yonkers man was charged with having an open container of alcohol on Phillips Park Road at about 6:30 p.m. Nov. 16

 

ACCIDENT

A 17-year-old Marmaroneck boy was transported to the hospital after the car he was driving struck a tree on The Parkway and rolled over. The boy suffered a hand injury in the accident. Nov. 16

 

ARREST

A 27-year-old Mount Vernon man was charged with criminal contempt after a woman called police saying an unwanted person was outside her residence at about 5:30 a.m. Nov. 17

 

LARCENY

The passenger-side window was removed from a vehicle parked on Harrison Avenue sometime between Nov. 13-14. Nov. 17

 

SUSPICIOUS PERSONS

A caller said two suspicious males, possibly under the influence of drugs, were on the 400 block of East Boston Post Road. The subjects were gone upon police arrival. Nov. 17

 

HIT AND RUN

A parked and unoccupied car was struck by an unknown vehicle on the 200 block of Mamaroneck Avenue. Nov. 17

 

LARCENY

A locked bike, valued at $300, was reported stolen from the Metro North train platform. It was reportedly taken sometime between 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Nov. 17

 

RECOVERED VEHICLE

A vehicle that was reported stolen from New York City was recovered on Nelson Street at about 8:30 p.m. after a caller reported a suspicious and possibly abandoned vehicle to police. Nov. 18

 

COURT UPDATE

Felipe Julian Bustos of 1315 Halstead Avenue was arraigned on a 10-count indictment today after allegedly raping, sexually assaulting and injuring a 23-year-old Mamaroneck woman in her home at about 1 p.m. on Nov. 9. Bustos was remanded to Westchester County Jail and is scheduled for his next court appearance on Dec. 21. He faces a maximum of 25 years in state prison.

He is facing the following charges:

Two counts of first-degree rape, class B felonies

One count of first-degree criminal sex act, a class B felony

One count of first-degree burglary, a Class B felony

Five counts of first-degree sexual abuse, class D felonies

LARCENY

A Green Acres Drive resident said a window on his car was broken while it was parked in his driveway overnight, and his laptop, valued at $2,000, personal papers, and $200 in cash were removed. Nov. 12

 

IDENTITY THEFT

An Adelaide Street woman said two credit cards had been opened in her name in Las Vegas without her knowledge or consent. Nov. 12

 

LARCENY

A 16-year-old boy said his phone and iPod were taken from his bookbag, which was left in the boys locker room at Rye High School, during his gym class.

An Orchard Street resident said his son’s bike was taken from a rack at Rye Middle School sometime between Oct. 15-16. Nov. 13

 

THEFT

A South Salem man said he left his leaf blower, valued at $300, in the front yard of a North Street business at about 8:30 a.m. He noticed it was gone at about 3:30 p.m. Nov. 15

 

LARCENY

A Bronx woman said her son’s bike was taken from a Station Plaza rack near the Connecticut-bound Metro North platform sometime since Nov. 9. Nov. 15

 

LARCENY

A Park Avenue woman said a window on her car was smashed and a GPS, valued at $300, was taken sometime overnight. Nov. 16

 

IDENTITY THEFT

A Rye Road resident said an unknown person used her personal information to open accounts and make charges on her credit cards. Nov. 16

 

ACCIDENT

An 84-year-old Rye woman, who initially refused medical attention, was taken to White Plains Hospital after a two-car accident at about 8:15 a.m. on Boston Post Road. Nov. 17

 

ACCIDENT

A 10-year-old boy complained of neck pain when he returned home after being involved in an accident that involved five cars on Boston Post Road at about 3:20 p.m. According to police, an unknown driver of an SUV ran into a car heading south on Boston Post Road, causing a domino effect with three other cars traveling south. All refused medical attention at the scene, and the driver of the SUV apparently fled. Nov. 17

 

ACCIDENT

A 13-year-old Bronx girl was taken to Greenwich Hospital with an arm injury after she was struck by a car on Purchase Street at about 4 p.m. According to reports, witnesses said the girl walked into oncoming traffic. Her injury was believed to be minor. Nov. 17

 

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

A bronze statue valued at $1,000 was found damaged and ditched in the brook at about noon after being taken from the Rye Free Reading Room. Nov. 18

 

POLICE OFFICERS INJURED ON DUTY

Two police officers who were exposed to carbon monoxide at about 1 p.m. in a North Street home are doing fine. According to police, the officers were responding to an aided case, in which an elderly woman forgot to turn off her car and left it running in her garage. The carbon monoxide apparently seeped into her home, causing her to feel sick. Nov. 18

 

LARCENY

The owner of All Paws on Purchase Street said an unknown woman had taken merchandise from the store over the past few weeks and then returned it for store credit. The merchandise was worth a total of about $130. Nov. 18

 

LARCENY

A Mead Road woman said her son’s bike, which was parked in the rack at Rye High School during the Rye-Harrison game on Oct. 16, was taken. Nov. 18

 

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

A Purchase Street resident said the sideview mirror on her 2008 Honda was smashed while it was parked in the Highland Hall lot overnight. Nov. 18

ANIMAL COMPLAINT

A Boulevard resident reported that two coyotes were fighting in his neighbor’s front yard at about 11:45 p.m. Police were unable to locate the animals. Nov. 8

 

LARCENY

A Sheldrake Road woman said her husband’s 2009 Jeep Wrangler and her brother’s 2004 Toyota 4Runner were broken into overnight while they were parked in her driveway. A GPS and $100 in coins and cash was taken from one, and a GPS and $60 was taken from the other. Nov. 9

 

LARCENY

A Cushman Road resident said his 2010 Volkswagen was broken into overnight and his iPod and $20 were taken. Nov. 9

A Sheldrake Road resident said the window on his 1995 Toyota was smashed overnight.  Nov. 9

A Fox Meadow Road resident said $12,500 was missing from his safe-deposit box at Chase Bank on East Parkway. Nov. 9

 

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A Hutchinson Avenue resident said a black male who appeared to be homeless was walking down driveways and knocking on doors at about 1:20 p.m. Police determined the man was authorized to be on the property to remove leaves. Nov. 9

 

ANIMAL COMPLAINT

A caller reported a coyote on Saxon Woods Road at about 9 a.m. Police were unable to locate the animal. Nov. 10

 

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A Brite Avenue resident reported finding empty pink bags on his front lawn at about 9:30 a.m. The homeowner discarded the pink bags and did not have any suspects. Nov. 10

 

ROBBERY

Police are following up on leads after a housekeeper was tied up and a Heathcote Road home was ransacked at about 2 p.m. Detective Lt. Bryant Clark said the housekeeper was confronted on the second floor of the home by a male with a handgun and bound with duct tape. Police believe there was more than one perpetrator, who went through rooms on the second and third floors of the home but apparently didn’t remove much property. Clark said police do not believe it was a random robbery. The housekeeper, 41, did not require medical attention. Nov. 11

A Murray Hill Road resident requested a police check after his alarm was activated at about 12:30 a.m. Police found all in order. Nov. 12

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A caller reported a suspicious man sitting in a Honda in the Wilgrin parking lot on Palmer Avenue at about 10 a.m. Police located the car and the man, who was a personal trainer who was early for an appointment with a client. Nov. 12

 

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A Rural Drive resident reported a suspicious man trespassing on a Heathcote Road property at about 3 p.m. Police were unable to locate the man, but found an unlocked basement door on the property. A walk-through of the basement found all in order. Nov. 12

 

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A 17-year-old Oakstwain Road resident reported hearing someone trying to unlock his front door at about 5:10 p.m. Police checked the home and found an envelope in the mail slot with the word “key” written on it. The suspicious person had apparently walked the resident’s dog earlier and was returning the key. Nov. 12

 

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A Bradford Road resident said he believed he heard footsteps in his home at about 7 p.m., and his dog was barking. Police checked the interior and exterior of the home and found all in order. Nov. 12

 

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A Park Road resident said she saw a male wearing all black outside her front door at about 8 p.m. The woman said she confronted the man and he ran through her backyard toward Fairview. Police searched the area but were unable to locate the subject. Nov. 12

 

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A Saxon Woods Road resident reported hearing three or four shots fired at about 9:15 p.m. Police were unable to determine the source. Nov. 12

 

ANIMAL COMPLAINT

A caller reported a potentially sick fox on Brite Avenue at about 9 a.m. Police were unable to locate the animal. Nov. 13

 

BURGLARY

A Park Road home was entered by unknown subjects and an undisclosed amount of jewelry was taken sometime between noon and 8 p.m. on Nov. 12. The suspects apparently gained entry to the home by breaking a window pane on a door in the rear of the home before going through drawers and a jewelry box in the master bedroom. Nov. 13

 

AUTO ACCIDENT

A 17-year-old pedestrian was struck by a car at the intersection of Weaver Street and Stratton Road at about 3:45 p.m. The boy was taken to White Plains Hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. Nov. 13

 

YOUTH COMPLAINT

A caller reported a group of youths skateboarding on Brewster Road at about 6:15 p.m. and using a light that was blinding passing drivers. The homeowner repositioned the light so that it was safe for drivers. Nov. 13

 

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A Vanderbilt Road resident said he found his garage door open at about 11 p.m. and requested police to check it out. All was found to be in order. Nov. 13
