Police Blotter 12.17.10

CRIME OF THE WEEK: A Hazelton Drive, Scarsdale resident found five small dead fish on his front walkway at about 8 a.m. on Dec. 7. The Scarsdale resident said he had no suspects.  There was no damage to the victim’s walkway, and patrol agreed to do extra ride-bys. Dec. 7

 

 

 

  

 

 

 

 

VILLAGE OF MAMARONECK

 

DWI

A 53-year-old Connecticut man was charged with driving while intoxicated on the 300 block of Mamaroneck Avenue at about 2:10 a.m. Dec. 11

 

DWI

A 26-year-old Bronx man was charged with driving while intoxicated on the 200 block of Mamaroneck Avenue at about 2:20 a.m. Dec. 11

 

ASSIST CITIZEN

An unknown youth reportedly attempted to steal a bookbag from another youth at a West Boston  Post Road restaurant at about 1 p.m. before fleeing with other youths in a car. Police canvassed the area but were unable to locate the subjects. Dec. 11

 

DWI

A 42-year-old Mamaroneck woman was charged with driving while intoxicated at about 1:15 a.m. on Frank Avenue. Dec. 12

 

DWI

A 36-year-old Bronx man was charged with driving while intoxicated at about 2 a.m. on Mamaroneck Avenue. Dec. 13

 

LARCENY

A Munro Avenue man said jewelry and electronic equipment valued at about $6,000 was taken from his house sometime between Nov. 28 and Dec. 8.  Dec. 13

 

BURGLARY

An unknown person allegedly entered a commercial building on the 100 block of West Boston Post Road overnight and took $1,500 in cash. Dec. 13

 

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

A door handle to an apartment on the 900 block of Halstead Avenue was damaged. Police said no entry was gained. Dec. 13

 

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

Fearing a break-in attempt, a Lawrence Avenue resident reported a strange noise at about 10:15 p.m. Police found all in good order and suspected the wind was causing the noise. Dec. 13

 

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

An unknown person, using an unknown object, punctured a tire on two parked and unoccupied cars on Spruce Street sometime overnight. Dec. 16

 

TRESPASSING

A 17-year-old boy was charged with trespassing on Prospect Avenue at about 12:10 p.m. Dec. 16

 

LARCHMONT

 

VEHICLE & TRAFFIC LAW ARREST

A New Rochelle Man was arrested on 12/4 and charged with operating with a suspended license and a suspended registration after he was observed operating his vehicle on Boston Post Rd.  The vehicle was impounded and the operator released on $200 bail.

LARCENY

A Boston Post Rd business owner reported on 12/7 that two days earlier someone entered his place of business and removed property valued at $237.

DWI ARREST

A Gerlach Place resident was arrested on 12/10 after Larchmont Police Officers responded to a motor vehicle accident on Chatsworth Ave. The woman , 61, was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, and released on her own recognizance.

HARASSMENT

A New Rochelle man reported on 12/10 that two months prior he was terminated by his employer who at the time proceeded to strike and shove him.

TRESPASSING

A Wagon Wheel Road resident said someone was trespassing on his property at about 3 p.m. Dec. 11

 

SCARSDALE

 

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A River Road resident reported a person screaming inside a silver Lexus parked outside of her house at about 5 p.m. Police were unable to locate the subject. Dec. 6

 

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A Hickory Lane resident reported a white van parked and unattended for an extended period of time at about 6 p.m. Police located the van in a Butler Road driveway and found no evidence of criminal activity. Dec. 6

 

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A Dunham Road resident said she noticed lights on at her neighbor’s home at about 8:20 p.m. that weren’t on previously, and her neighbors were out of state. Police checked the home and found no signs of tampering or intrusion. Dec. 6

 

TRAFFIC COMPLAINT

A Burgess Road resident said cars were making illegal U-turns on Burgess Road near Post Road at about 7:30 a.m. Patrol spoke with several motorists, who said traffic backs up between 7:30 a.m. and 8:10 a.m. due to motorists making illegal turns during drop-offs at Scarsdale High School. Dec. 7

 

ASSIST OTHER AGENCY

Police responded to the strip mall on Weaver Street at about 6 p.m. to assist New Rochelle police on a report that someone had displayed a weapon. Police were unable to locate the suspect. Dec. 7

 

ASSIST CITIZEN

A Wayside Lane resident said her 2009 Acura had been stolen at about 7:20 p.m. after she had parked it on Chase Road. Police found the car in DeCicco’s parking lot and observed no evidence that it had been tampered with. Dec. 7

 

ASSIST CITIZEN

A Meadow Road resident requested that police check her house at about 8 a.m. after she received a call from her security company that her phone line was not functioning. Police checked the house, noted that they had no expertise in phone-line troubleshooting, and reported that everything appeared to be in order. Dec. 8

 

DISABLED MOTORIST
A caller reported a truck with a leak in the area of Village Hall at about 10:30 a.m. Police located a disabled oil truck on Popham Road. The driver told police that the truck’s transmission broke, causing an oil leak. The truck was towed without further incident and the fire and highway departments were notified of the need for a clean-up. Dec. 8

 

BURGLARY

A Potter Road resident said jewelry and money had been taken from her residence sometime between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 6. Police said the woman came home from work and found her front door closed but not locked. Upon investigation, police found a broken window in the basement. No arrests have been made. Dec. 8

 

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A Greenacres Avenue resident said an unknown man wearing a white ski cap and brown glasses rang her doorbell several times at about 7:45 p.m. Police located the subject, who said he was going door-to-door seeking donations for the Working Families Party. Police advised the man that he needed a permit and that door-to-door solicitation was not allowed after 7 p.m. Dec. 8

 

ARREST

Anthony Lucido, a 41-year old White Plains man, was charged with petty larceny, second-degree criminal mischief, possession of burglar tools and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property at about 4:15 a.m. on Scarsdale Avenue. Police responded to the area after a Con-Ed worker reported a male in a gold or tan SUV looking into parked cars in the area. Police found Lucido, along with a bag of quarters, in the backseat of his car. Twenty-five parking meters had been damaged and their coins removed. Dec. 9

 

ASSIST CITIZEN

A young girl said she was locked out of her home at about 12:30 p.m. and that her mother was unaware that school had let out early. The girl was taken to the nurse’s office at Edgewood School, where her mother picked her up. Dec. 9

 

FIRE

Fenimore Road, between Post Road and Brewster Road, was closed at about 1 p.m. after a utility pole on Fenimore and Tompkins roads caught on fire and was spreading down Fenimore. There were no injuries. Dec. 9

 

LARCENY

A Rodney Road resident said his son’s headphone set was stolen from his locker at the middle school. Dec. 9

 

BURGLARY

A Greenacres Avenue resident said jewelry was taken from the home sometime between 8:30 a.m. and 4:20 p.m. Police said three second-floor bedrooms had been entered, and the master bedroom had been “heavily tossed.” The matter remains under investigation. Dec. 9

 

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A Brewster Road resident reported that lights that were previously on in her house were now turned off at about 6:45 p.m. Police informed the caller of an earlier power failure, and the homeowner said she needed no further assistance. Dec. 9

 

TRAFFIC COMPLAINT

Police observed two cars making U-turns on Burgess Road at about 8 a.m. Both drivers were informed that the maneuver was no longer allowed. They said they would comply. Dec. 10

 

ANIMAL COMPLAINT

A Franklin Road resident said she heard an injured animal in her backyard at about 8:30 p.m. Police were unable to locate any injured animals, but noted that a healthy-looking cat walked by during patrol’s search. Dec. 10

 

ASSIST CITIZEN

A caller told police people were playing baseball on the track at Scarsdale High School at about 12:30 p.m., disturbing walkers. Police interviewed an adult male who was playing catch with his sons. The man said they were approached by a woman who shouted at them not to play ball on the track and then left the scene. Police said the ball-playing was not obstructing walkers and noted that there were no signs restricting ball playing. Dec. 11

 

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A Harvest Drive resident reported hearing noise in the upstairs of her home at about 9:20 p.m. Police checked the house and found all in good order, other than that a dog had gone through the garbage, possibly causing the noise. Dec. 11

 

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

A caller complained about a large group of youths congregating at a Brite Avenue home at about 10:30 p.m. When police arrived, numerous youths fled, leaving empty beer cans behind. No arrests were made. Dec. 11

LARCENY

A handicapped permit was stolen from a resident’s car parked in the garage of her Waters Edge home. Dec. 16.

 

VANDALISM

 The Rye Free Reading Room suffered water damage through theceiling after vandals apparently purposely caused water to overflow from the 2^ndfloor bathroom.  Dec. 15.

 

LARCENY

 A bicycle was stolen from the front of a Windcrest Roadhouse. Dec. 14.

 

LARCENY

A resident reported his wallet and everything in it stolenfrom his car while parked during the day on Goldwin Street.  Dec. 13.

 

 VANDALISM

 Graffiti taggers hit the north wall of the Cristfields Market building on Theodore Fremd Avenue and Elm Place. Dec. 13. 

 

 VANDALISM

 Two Midland Avenue mailboxes were vandalized shortly before midnight. One of the homeowners reported a group of kids out on the street atthe time.  Dec. 12.
