CRIME OF THE WEEK: A man walked into Village of Mamaroneck Police Headquarters at about 4:30 a.m. requesting help getting a ring off his thumb.

 

 

 

 

 

EMS was called, but was unable to cut the ring off. The man then reportedly took a cab to Sound Shore Medical Center. Police had no further information on the ring or why the man was so desperate to get it off. Sept. 13

VILLAGE OF MAMARONECK

DWI
A 29-year-old White Plains man was charged with driving while intoxicated on Mamaroneck Avenue at about 12:30 a.m. Sept. 13

Graffiti was found on a Mamaroneck Avenue building at about 11 a.m. Sept. 13

ANIMAL COMPLAINT
Two dogs got into a scuffle on New Street at about 5 p.m., and one dog was reportedly bitten in the ear. The owners were on the scene and said they would handle the matter privately. Sept. 13

BICYCLIST STRUCK
A 45-year-old Bronx woman was taken to White Plains Hospital at about 6:30 p.m. with a hip injury after she was struck by a car while riding her bike on Mamaroneck Avenue. Sept. 14

EXPOSURE
A 38-year-old New Rochelle man was charged with exposure after allegedly urinating in public in Pape Memorial Park on Madison Street at about 5 p.m. Sept. 14

OPEN CONTAINER
A 24-year-old Mamaroneck man was charged with having an open container of alcohol on Phillips Park Road at about 11 p.m. Sept. 14

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF
Two passenger-side windows were broken sometime overnight on a car parked in a lot at 1035 East Boston Road. Sept. 15

LEAVING THE SCENE
A driver was reportedly stopped at a light on East Boston Post Road at about 5:30 p.m. when the driver of another car sideswiped the car and left the scene. Sept. 15

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF
A patron at the Sunoco on Mamaroneck Avenue apparently forgot to remove the pump from the car before driving away at about 10 p.m. The gas pump’s hose was damaged in the incident. Sept. 15

VILLAGE CODE VIOLATION
A 33-year-old man and a 20-year-old man were charged with consuming alcohol in public on the southbound train platform at about 10:30 p.m. Sept. 15

DISPUTE
A caller reported a dispute between two women and one man on Mamaroneck Avenue at about 12:45 a.m. The subjects were gone upon police arrival. Sept. 16

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF
Picnic tables and benches in the rear of Daniel Warren Elementary School were painted with graffiti sometime between Sept. 10 and Sept. 13. Sept. 16

LEAVING THE SCENE
A parked and unoccupied car was struck by an unknown vehicle on Carpenter Place. Sept. 16

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF
Graffiti was found on an electric box and village signs on Palmer Avenue near Delancey Avenue and Stanley Avenue at about 1 a.m. It was unclear if the graffiti was fresh or not. Sept. 17

ASSAULT
Christopher Ortega, 25, of Mamaroneck was charged with second-degree assault, a felony, for allegedly striking another man with a crowbar in Warren Avenue Park at about 12:30 p.m. Police said the men were arguing over money when the alleged assault occurred. The victim was taken to Sound Shore Medical Center with a laceration on his head. Sept. 17

A 38-year-old Mamaroneck man was charged with having an open container of alcohol on Madison Street at about 9:30 p.m. Sept. 17

DWI
A 25-year-old White Plains woman was charged with driving while intoxicated at about 2:30 a.m. on Mamaroneck Avenue. Sept. 18

BURGLARY
An unknown person entered a Prospect Avenue garage and sprayed paint on the door, window and other items sometime between Sept. 11 and Sept. 18.

EXPOSURE
A 47-year-old Mamaroneck man was charged with exposure after allegedly urinating in public in Columbus Park at about 6 p.m. Sept. 18

CRIMINAL CONTEMPT
A 31-year-old Mamaroneck man was charged with criminal contempt at about 7:30 p.m. for allegedly violating an order of protection. Sept. 18

A mailbox and sign on Taylors Lane were spray-painted with  graffiti sometime overnight. Sept. 19

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT
A 15-year-old youth said a white male in a dark red car asked him to get into his vehicle at about 2 p.m. on Mamaroneck Avenue near Old White Plains Road. The youth ran away from the man. Sept. 19

A Larchmont Acres resident said his 2004 Subaru was struck by an unknown vehicle while it was parked on Elkan Road sometime overnight. Sept. 15

LEAVING THE SCENE
The driver and passenger in a 1998 Nissan allegedly fled the scene after crashing their car on Old White Plains Road at about 11:50 p.m. According to a witness, the car was going south on Old White Plains Road when it rolled over off the roadway and struck a fire hydrant, causing significant damage to the car. The matter remains under investigation. Sept. 16

PETTY LARCENY
A Doris Road resident said a women’s silver and yellow bike, valued at $600, was stolen from an open garage sometime between Sept. 16 and Sept. 17.

A Chatsworth Avenue resident said five unknown subjects damaged a fence and then fled the area at about 11:30 p.m. Sept. 17

An Echo Lane resident said a 21-speed bike, valued at $300, was taken from an open garage sometime between 8:30 a.m. and noon. Sept. 19

A New Street resident said her son’s clothes, valued at $100, were taken from a bench in the locker room at Hommocks Middle School sometime between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Sept. 20

A Drake Smith Lane resident said her Audi was broken into and a diaper bag was stolen. Sept. 14

RULES OF THE ROAD
A 40-year-old White Plains man was charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration at about 5 p.m. on Playland Access Drive. Sept. 15

A 30-year-old Mahopac man was issued several summons, including aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and speeding, at about 11:15 a.m. on Forest Avenue. Sept. 16

ANIMAL COMPLAINT
A Fenton Street woman said her dog was attacked by an unleashed dog in Rye Town Park on Sept. 15. No injuries were reported. Sept. 16

DISPUTE
A Ridgeland Manor resident told police that his ex-girlfriend had moved into his apartment without his permission. The man said she moved her belongings into his home while he was away. The man was advised to follow up in court.  Sept. 17

LARCENY
Two coils of U.S. postal stamps were reported stolen from the Con-Ed mail room at about 9:30 a.m. The complainant said the coils each contained 100 stamps. Sept. 17

Graffiti was found on the tunnel walls between Purchase Street and Car Park 1. Sept. 17

YOUTH COMPLAINT
A caller said a group of youths was drinking and doing drugs in the upper pavilion in Rye Recreation Park at about 8:45 p.m. When police arrived, the youths had left the scene but left behind empty beer bottles and a book bag. The bag, which contained a camera, some books, gym shorts and a class schedule, was later picked up at police headquarters by a boy and his mother. Sept. 17

A Midland Avenue resident said five youths damaged a fence in the area at about 11:40 p.m. and threw it in the street. Police were unable to locate the subjects, and they put the fence back where it belonged. Sept. 17

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT
A 45-year-old Grace Church resident said a man driving a black Subaru was following her as she went for a morning jog in the area of Boston Post Road and Parsons Street at about 8 a.m. The woman, who reported the incident at headquarters, described the man as either white or Hispanic, in his 40s or 50s, with shaggy gray hair and a mustache and beard. The woman said she stopped a third party on the street to talk and provide herself protection. Sept. 18

ANIMAL COMPLAINT
A Midland Avenue man said he was bitten by a small white dog while he was walking on Locust Avenue at about 10:30 a.m. The victim refused medical attention. Sept. 18

A Purchase Street man said the passenger-side door on his car was scratched overnight while it was parked in Car Park 4. Sept. 18

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT
A woman said she received a suspicious package, which contained 80 packs of Marlboro Light cigarettes that were stamped from Indonesia, at the Rye Golf Club. The property was placed into evidence at police headquarters. Sept. 18

A Brevoort Lane resident said she found a door ajar at her home at about 4:40 p.m. and requested police assistance. The woman added that her alarm system was malfunctioning. Police found no damage to the door and no sign of a forced entry. Sept. 18

YOUTH COMPLAINT
An 18-year-old High Street resident said he was riding his bike on Boston Post Road at about 1:30 a.m. when a group of youths in a black Jeep Grand Cherokee pulled alongside him and said something. The victim said he approached the car to find out what they said, and the driver got out of the car and asked if he was looking to start a fight. The victim told police that the driver then pushed him into the bushes. Two passengers in the car, one male and one female, reportedly got out of the car and asked the victim if he was OK. The victim got back on his bike and rode away. He described the driver as a white male wearing white sweat pants. Sept. 19

A Fernwood Avenue resident said she discovered some of the grass in her backyard torn up at about 1 p.m. Sept. 19

SCARSDALE

ANIMAL COMPLAINT
A caller said a coyote was resting in a lawn at the intersection of Wildwood Road and Dell Road at about 11:50 a.m. Police were unable to locate the animal. Sept. 13

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT
A motorist told police there was a burning box on Weaver Street at about 1:30 p.m. Police checked the area from Heathcote Road to Old Lyme Road and did not find a box or anything else burning in the roadway. Sept. 13

ANIMAL COMPLAINT
A caller said a coyote was running around the Mamaroneck Road area at about 2:15 p.m. Police were unable to locate the animal. Sept. 13

ANIMAL COMPLAINT
A Dolma Road resident reported a coyote across the street from her home at about 2:40 p.m. The caller said the coyote did not display abnormal or aggressive behavior. Police were unable to locate the animal. Sept. 13

LARCENY
A caller said copper was stolen from a construction site on Mamaroneck Road at about 4 p.m. Scrap copper was also reportedly taken over the past three days. The total value was estimated at $3,500. Sept. 13

ASSIST CITIZEN
A Crossway resident requested assistance at about 4 p.m. after she accidentally locked herself out of her home with her 11-month-old child inside. The fire department was able to gain entry through an unlocked second-floor window. Sept. 13

A caller said a dog was locked in a BMW  in Balducci’s parking lot at about 5 p.m. Police were unable to locate the car or the dog. Sept. 14

A Ross Road resident said someone had accessed his savings account and taken $100 on two separate occasions. Sept. 15

AGGRAVATED HARASSMENT
A Lenox Place resident said he was receiving numerous hang-ups on his telephone. He was advised to contact the phone company. Sept. 15

TRAFFIC COMPLAINT
A man said unknown items were thrown at his car after he was cut off by an angry motorist on Post Road and Popham Road at about 12:40 p.m. Police contacted the driver of the other car, who said she unintentionally passed the complainant on the road but did not throw items at anybody. Sept. 15

A caller reported a coyote walking north on Hampton Road at about 8:15 p.m. Police were unable to locate the animal. Sept. 15

An Ogden Road resident asked police to check her home at about 10:30 a.m. after she discovered a door that should have been left open was locked. Police found everything in order. Sept. 16

A Rock Creek Lane resident reported a coyote, which appeared to be healthy, in her backyard at about 1:45 p.m. Police were unable to locate the animal. Sept. 16

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT
A Thies Court resident said she received a phone call from a man who told her that her alarm needed checking, and she set up an appointment for the following morning. The resident called the alarm company to confirm the appointment later in the day, and was told nobody from the company had reached out to her. Sept. 16

Police received five reports of flooding between 5:55 p.m. and 6:25 p.m. Sept. 16

A Hamilton Road resident said a raccoon was stuck in a drain at about 6:20 p.m. Police were unable to locate the animal. Sept.16

A Varian Lane resident reported hearing voices inside his home at about 2:45 a.m. Police checked the home and found everything in order. Sept. 17

A Stonehouse Road resident said there was a loose red dog with white spots in the area at about 8 a.m. Police were unable to locate the animal. Sept. 17

BICYCLIST STRUCK
A 42-year-old New Rochelle woman was struck by a car while she was riding her bike on Heathcote Bypass at about 3:30 p.m. Police said the car, described as a silver Suburban with New York plates and a bike rack, sideswiped her, knocking her to the ground, and left the scene. The victim was taken to White Plains Hospital with injuries to her left arm and left leg. Police found a shattered mirror on the side of the roadway, and the matter remains under investigation. Police are asking anyone with any information on the incident to contact them at 914-722-1200. Sept. 17

A Fairview Road resident said a man was walking around her neighbor’s property at about 4:15 p.m. Police were unable to locate the man. The house was checked and everything appeared to be in order. Sept. 17

A Ridgecrest West resident  said she heard knocking noises coming from outside her house at about 3:50 a.m. Police checked the home and found everything in order. Sept. 17

A Fairview Road resident said his GPS mount and about $4 in loose change was taken from his unlocked car while it was parked in his driveway sometime since Sept. 13.  Sept. 18

A caller said her daughter saw a cat that had been struck by a car on Cohawney Road at about 3:40 p.m. Police found a deceased rabbit on the side of the road, and contacted the highway department for pick-up. Sept. 18

A 52-year-old Tuckahoe man lost control of his car on Weaver Street and struck a tree at about 4:10 p.m. He was taken to Sound Shore Medical Center for evaluation. Sept. 18

A caller reported a coyote sighting in Fenway Golf Club at about 4:15 p.m. Police were unable to locate the animal.

ASSIST CITIZEN
A caller complained of an unorganized game of lacrosse on the Scarsdale High football field at about 4:45 p.m. The caller said he feared for the track walkers’ safety because they were in danger of being hit by the ball. Police spoke with one of the players, who said the game would cease. Sept. 18

ANIMAL COMPLAINT
A caller reported a coyote sighting on Stratton Road at about 5 p.m. Police were unable to locate the animal. Sept. 18

LARCENY
A man who seemed to be in the market for a mountain bike asked to take a dark gray Ellsworth Moment Mountain Bike for a test ride from Sierra Cycles on Garth Road and never returned it. A store employee reported the incident at about 5 p.m., and said the bike was valued at $5,400.Sept. 18

A Montgomery Road resident said unknown persons were ringing her doorbell and banging on her door at about 12:45 a.m. Police were unable to locate the suspects. Sept. 19

A caller reported a coyote sighting in the area of Mamaroneck Road and Secor Road at about 8 a.m. Police were unable to locate the animal. Sept. 19

A caller reported a coyote sighting on Rock Creek Lane at about 4:25 p.m. Police were unable to locate the animal, but a passing motorist said she saw the coyote going into the wooded area at Black Birch Road. Sept. 19

A caller reported a fox — or coyote — sighting in the Heathcote School parking lot at about 6 p.m. Police were unable to locate the animal. Sept. 19

ASSIST CITIZEN
A Harvest Drive girl called police at about 8:30 p.m. because she was home alone and her dog was barking at something outside the residence. Police checked the area and found everything in order. The girl went to a friend’s house until her parents arrived home. Sept. 19

PEDESTRIAN STRUCK

A 43-year-old New York City woman was struck by a car on the Hutchinson River Parkway near Weaver Street just before 5 a.m. and was taken to Westchester Medical Center with a leg injury that was not believed to be life-threatening. According to Westchester County Police, the woman had been a passenger in a car that was going north on the Hutchinson River Parkway. She had apparently asked the driver of that car to stop and let her out because they were having a dispute. The driver let her out of the car and drove away. A short time later, as she was walking along the edge of the roadway, she was struck by a car driven by a 26-year-old Mount Vernon man. There were no charges filed in the incident. Sept. 20

A Burgess Road resident said a coyote with an injured leg was in her backyard at about 7:30 a.m. Police were unable to locate the animal. Sept. 20

DENTITY THEFT

A West Ave resident reported on 9/13 that someone used her name to obtain a credit card and a debit card.  No transactions were posted on either card prior to the discovery being made.

VEHICLE & TRAFFIC LAW ARREST

A Bronx man was arrested on 9/16 and charged with operating with a suspended license after he was observed operating his vehicle on Palmer Ave.  The vehicle was impounded and the operator released on his own recognizance.

LARCENY

A Mamaroneck Town resident reported on 9/16 that his bicycle, valued at $600, was removed from the bicycle rack in Lot 3.
