CRIME OF THE WEEK: A truck that was stolen in Yonkers in the morning wound up stuck under a bridge and abandoned by its driver

 

 

 

 

at the intersection of Halstead Avenue and Melbourne Avenue in Mamaroneck at about 1:35 p.m.  The driver apparently fled on foot and has not been apprehended. Sept.

 

TOWN OF MAMARONECK

IDENTITY THEFT
A 66-year-old Rockingstone Avenue woman said an unknown person fraudulently used her American Express credit card to purchase a $100 Bloomingdale’s gift card. Sept. 7

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF
A Toyota belonging to a 74-year-old Chatsworth Avenue resident was scratched on the hood and driver’s-side door sometime overnight. Sept. 10

LEAVING THE SCENE
A 44-year-old Edgewood Avenue resident said his 2001 Porsche was struck by an unknown vehicle while it was parked on Murray Avenue sometime between 6 Sept. 13:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., causing damage to the driver-side fender and door. The damage was estimated at more than $1,000.

VILLAGE OF MAMARONECK

 

ASSAULT

Clarence Lloyd Murray, a 57-year-old Mamaroneck man, was charged with second-degree assault, a Class D felony, on Saturday after allegedly striking another man in the head with a bicycle. According to police, the victim was sitting on a park bench on Madison Street at about 4:45 p.m., when an argument between the two strangers began. Murray allegedly picked up the victim’s bike and threw it at him, causing lacerations to the victim’s head and nose. He was transported to Sound Shore Medical Center for treatment. Sept. 11

 

 

STOLEN CAR
A 1997 Hyundai Tiburon was reported stolen from the driveway of an Old Post Road home at about 10:30 a.m. The owner of the car said the keys to the car may have been left in the door. It has not been recovered. Sept. 8

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT
Screens were removed from the windows of a home on Meadow Street, but no entry was gained. Sept. 8

VIOLATION
A 45-year-old Mamaroneck man was charged with consuming an alcoholic beverage in a public place at about 6:45 p.m. on Lester Avenue. Sept. 8

LARCENY
A cell phone was reported stolen from a locker at Mamaroneck High School at about 7 p.m. Sept. 8

WATER RESCUE
A distressed swimmer was rescued by a boater in Long Island Sound at about 8:15 p.m. He refused medical treatment at the scene. Sept. 8

ACCIDENT
A bicyclist collided with a car on Mamaroneck Avenue at about 11 p.m., and no injuries were reported. Sept. 8

ACCIDENT
A 17-year-old Purchase man was charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration and failing to yield the right-of-way after a three-car accident on Halstead Avenue at about 2:15 p.m. Police said two people were transported to Sound Shore Medical Center, one complaining of back and neck pain and another complaining of a leg bruise and pain. Two others were treated on the scene. Sept. 9

SUSPICIOUS PERSON
Responding to a report of a suspicious person on Railroad Way at about 7:45 p.m., police discovered fresh graffiti but no suspicious person. Sept. 9

HIT AND RUN
An unknown person left the scene after striking a parked and unoccupied car on Mamaroneck Avenue, causing minor damage. Sept. 9

NOISE COMPLAINT
Police received two complaints, the first at about 11:10 p.m. and the second at about 11:45 p.m., of people talking loudly and yelling at 1035 East Boston Post Road. Sept. 9

SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE
An unlicensed driver was found sleeping in a car parked on Fayette Avenue at about 2 a.m. The subject took a taxi to Yonkers, leaving the car behind. Sept. 10

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF
A large scratch was found on an unoccupied car parked on Jefferson Avenue at about 7 p.m. Sept. 10

DISPUTE
Police mediated a verbal dispute over name-calling on Prospect Avenue at about 10:40 p.m., and sent the parties on their way. Sept. 10

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT
A loud bang was heard from a Shore Acres Drive home at about 11:30 p.m. The owners said they didn’t know what caused it. Sept. 10

ARREST
A 32-year-old Mamaroneck man was charged with exposure and endangering the welfare of a child at about midnight on Mamaroneck Avenue after allegedly urinating in front of three youths. Sept. 11

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF
An unknown person slashed two tires on an unoccupied and parked car on North Wagner Avenue sometime between Sept. 5 and Sept. 11. Sept. 11

HIT AND RUN
An unknown person struck an occupied and parked car in the Upper Hunter lot and left the scene. Sept. 11

LARCENY
An unknown person took electronic equipment valued at about $670 from Radio Shack at 305 Mamaroneck Avenue. The case remains under investigation. Sept. 11

ARREST
A 22-year-old Larchmont man was charged with falsely reporting an incident after allegedly pulling a fire alarm at Super Pan Bakery on Mamaroneck Avenue at about 10 p.m. Sept. 11

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT
A Stoneybrook Avenue resident said he believes large rocks from his driveway were intentionally placed behind his rear wheels of his car. The rocks reportedly caused damage to his undercarriage when he tried to back out of his driveway at about 10:50 p.m. Sept. 11

NOISE COMPLAINT
Police received three noise complaints in three hours regarding a Prospect Avenue home. A summons was issued on the third police visit about 12:45 a.m. Sept. 12

DWAI
A 31-year-old Hartsdale woman was charged with driving with ability impaired on Mamaroneck Avenue at about 1:30 a.m. Sept. 12

HAZARDOUS CONDITION
Concerned parents complained of employees from Guy’s Deli throwing old bread in Jefferson Avenue Park and attracting unwanted animals to the area. Sept. 12

FIGHT IN PROGRESS
No charges were filed and no injuries were suffered after a fight broke out on Mamaroneck Avenue at about 7 p.m. Sept. 12

BURGLARY
A Union Avenue resident said an unknown person took jewelry valued at $3,000 from the home sometime since Sept. 3. Sept. 12

 

RYE

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

An 84-year-old Forest Avenue man said an unknown person tried to break into his home sometime overnight. Police said a storm door and some wood trim were damaged, but a deadbolt prevented the subjects from gaining entry into the home. Sept. 8

 

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A 75-year-old Milton Road man said he returned home at about 5:30 p.m. to find two basement window panes had been broken, but entry to the home was not gained. Sept. 8

 

DRUG COMPLAINT

A 40-year-old North Street woman discovered a clear bag with a powdery white substance in it near her driveway at about 12:30 p.m. Sept. 9

 

ANIMAL COMPLAINT

A 7-year-old girl suffered minor injuries at about 3:30 p.m. after being bitten by the family dog. Sept. 9

ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE

A 41-year-old Rye man said he was driving his 1998 BMW south on Boston Post Road at about 4:30 p.m. when his car was struck by a stray golf ball from Rye Golf Club. The ball apparently shattered his windshield, but the Park Avenue man was uninjured. Sept 11

 

AGGRAVATED DWI

A 26-year-old Greenwich, Conn., man was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated and failure to obey a traffic device just after midnight on Peck Avenue. Police said they observed a 2001 Dodge Ram truck in the through lane of traffic on Boston Post Road stopped at a green light. The driver then allegedly made a left turn from the through-traffic lane, not the turn lane, onto Peck Avenue. When police pulled the man over, it was noted that his speech was "extremely" slurred. The driver reportedly told police he was coming from McDonald’s and produced a bag of food through his window. When the operator was ordered out of his car, police said he partially collapsed before regaining his balance and walking to the rear of his car. After allegedly failing a field sobriety test, the man agreed to take the chemical test and allegedly registered a blood-alcohol concentration of .20, more than twice the legal limit. Sept. 12

 

 

SCARSDALE

A Myrtledale Road resident told Scarsdale police that two Hondas were parked in his driveway at about 9:25 a.m. The caller told police that the cars belonged to friends of his son, who had given them permission to park there. The homeowner, however, found himself blocked in and unable to get to work. Police assisted the homeowner by attempting to contact the owners, who were attending services at the Westchester Reform Temple on Mamaroneck Road. Sept. 9

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF
A "No Parking" sign that was reported missing from Depot Plaza at about 9 a.m. was located in the woods by the train tracks with no apparent damage. Sept. 7

A Carthage Road resident reported a coyote in her backyard at about 3:30 p.m. Police were unable to locate the animal. Sept. 7

ANIMAL COMPLAINT
A caller reported a coyote in the area of Fairview Road and Post Road at about 9 p.m. Police were unable to locate the animal. Sept. 7

IDENTITY THEFT
A Richbell Road  resident said an unknown person fraudulently opened a Best Buy credit card in his name. Sept. 7

ARREST
An 18-year-old woman, whose name is being withheld by police because she is a minor, was charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument, a Class D felony, for having fake identification. Sept. 8

IDENTITY THEFT
A Heathcote Road resident said an unknown person used his credit card to place a $475 online order. Sept. 8

ANIMAL COMPLAINT
A caller reported a coyote walking down Cayuga Road at about 2 p.m. Police were unable to locate the animal. Sept. 8

ANIMAL COMPLAINT
A coyote was spotted by a Carthage Road resident and a Mamaroneck Road resident at about 5 p.m. Police were unable to locate the animal. Sept. 8

ANIMAL COMPLAINT
A Secor Road resident reported a coyote on her property at about 5:30 p.m. A Foxhall Road resident likewise reported seeing the animal. Neither resident said the coyote was exhibiting unusual behavior. Police were unable to locate it. Sept. 8

DISORDERLY CONDUCT
Responding to a complaint of an intoxicated man behaving erratically at the train station at about 10:15 p.m., police interviewed a subject named "Scott" who told police he was helping passengers get onto the train. Sept. 8

ANIMAL COMIPLAINT
A deceased raccoon was found on Post Road between Huntington Avenue and Oxford Road at about 5 p.m. Sept. 9

YOUTH COMPLAINT
Police received a report of kids playing with fire near the Fox Meadow School playground at about 6:15 p.m. Police were unable to locate the subjects. Sept. 9

NOISE COMPLAINT
A caller complained of loud music coming from Saxon Woods golf course restaurant at about 8:45 p.m. The band playing at the event was on break when police arrived, but turned down the volume when they started their next set. Sept. 9

ANIMAL COMPLAINT
A caller reported a coyote running around on Canterbury Road at about 9:20 p.m. Police were unable to locate the animal, and spoke with three separate pedestrians near the location who said they had not see a coyote. Sept. 9

DISPUTE
A Dobbs Terrace resident walked into headquarters to report that a woman driver pulled up next to him at a traffic light and made a vulgar gesture at about 11:15 p.m. The incident took place in Greenburgh, but the woman allegedly then drove into Scarsdale. Sept. 9

NOISE COMPLAINT
A caller, who refused to provide a name, complained of a loud party on Cooper Road at about 11:30 p.m. The homeowner was notified of the complaint and said she would keep the noise down. Sept. 9

LARCENY
A Tory Lane resident said an envelope with $10,000 in cash in it was missing from a safe insider he home. She said it was last seen in August. The matter remains under investigation. Sept.  10

ANIMAL COMPLAINT
A 12-year-old boy was nipped on the finger by a neighbor’s dog at about 3:15 p.m. Sept. 10

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT
A White Plains woman said she was flagged down on East Parkway at about 4 p.m. by another motorist who told her that she had collided with a third vehicle while driving on the Bronx River Parkway. The woman said she was unaware of any collision but did find a scuff mark on the passenger side of the car, and she was unsure if it was new or not. Westchester County Police said they had received no reports of an accident at that time and place. Sept. 10

ANIMAL COMPLAINT
A Morris Lane resident said her 2-year-old daughter had been bitten by a stray cat earlier in the day and wanted assistance in trapping it to determine if her daughter needed to undergo rabies treatment. The resident said she had been in contact with the Westchester County Health Department and a pediatrician. Sept. 10

A Black Birch Lane resident reported a coyote in his yard at about 5:30 p.m. Police were unable to locate the animal. Sept. 10

A Dell Road resident said her 2004 Honda was broken into overnight and her GPS was taken. Sept 11

IDIENTITY THEFT
A Lee Road resident said an unknown person was making purchases using his credit cards. Sept. 11

LARCENY
A Springdale Road resident said his 2000 Lincoln was broken into and his GPS was stolen. Sept. 11

A Coarlyn Road resident said a window on her 2001 Toyota was broken. Sept. 11

ANIMAL COMPLAINT
A Lawrence Road resident reported a sick or injured skunk in his backyard at about 1:10 p.m. Police located the animal, and noted that it appeared unable to move but that it was not posing a threat to anyone. The homeowner was advised to contact a trapper. Sept. 11

A coyote was reported in the area of Catherine Road and Canterbury Road at about 2 p.m. Police were unable to locate the animal. Sept. 11

A caller said a coyote was in the area of Rock Creek Lane and Sycamore Road at about 3:15 p.m. Police were unable to locate the animal. Sept. 11

ANIMAL COMPLAINT
A 68-year-old man said he was walking into a Spencer Place store when he felt a pain in his leg. When he turned around he saw a dog and realized he had been bitten. His injuries were not believed to be serious. Sept. 11

NOISE COMPLAINT
A caller complained of a loud party on Bradford Road at about 10:30 p.m. Police notified the homeowner of the complaint, and he agreed to lower the music. Sept. 11

NOISE COMPLAINT
A caller complained of "unreasonably" loud noise coming from somewhere on Sherbrook Road at about 11:30 p.m. Police spoke with the homeowner, who agreed to lower the music and said his gathering would be concluding soon. Sept. 11

ANIMAL COMPLAINT
A caller said a coyote that appeared to be healthy was walking around Hazelton Drive at about 11:15 a.m. Police were unable to locate the animal. Sept. 12

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT
A Walworth Avenue resident said she came home at about 12:30 p.m. to find a beat-up car in her driveway with two men inside it filming her home. Police locate the subjects, who said they were filming a project for a bar mitzvah and were filming the sign "Village of Scarsdale" and then turned around in the complainant’s driveway. Police requested to review the video, and found nothing suspicious. Sept. 12

ANIMAL COMPLAINT
A Thornwood Place resident reported a coyote in his backyard at about 2 p.m. Police were unable to locate the animal. Sept. 12

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT
A Montgomery Road resident said kids have been ringing her doorbell in the middle of the night the past few nights. The resident said she has not seen any of them and has no suspects. Sept. 12

ANIMAL COMPLAINT
A caller reported a coyote on Innes Road at about 8:10 p.m. Police were unable to locate the animal. Sept. 12

NOISE COMPLAINT
A caller complained of a house alarm sounding on Mamaroneck Road at about 8 a.m. Police checked the area and located and disabled a discarded smoke detector that was in the trash. Sept. 13
