Rumorville: You Can Take Kearns Out of the Deli, but…
A mysterious email arrived. It was from Jim Kearns, who sold his eponymous deli to Edwin Estacio (now Chatsworth Deli and Bakery) last year,
and it reads:
"Thomas Wolfe was wrong-you actually can go home again-and I intend to prove it,beginning Monday June 14, when I return "home" to 135 Chatsworth Av.-hope to see you there!"
Edwin tells theLoop, "
We will be working together. As you know, he is a very experienced deli person."
There’s an understatement. Welcome home, Jim!
Are you bringing the Woodstock posters with you?

wait a minute – i want more details. I loved kearns, and have been bereft in my am search for coffee and cheer. I actually (silently) vowed not to visit the fancy new upstart. But if any of the lovely Kearns family is in I am right behind them.
editrix Karen, Jim Kearns is working there again! And you may see a Hendrix poster on the wall before it’s over….
I had a very funny experience today at Larchmont Animal Hospital (a thriiving Palmer Ave business)…they were placing a MASSIVE order from Chatsworth Deli (with lots of “hold the pickle” “extra sauce” thrown in). The order took about 10 mins to place…when the woman got off the phone, she just started laughing. She said they were the nicest people EVER, the food was great, not too expensive and they deliver (at least to local stores). Her resounding endorsement made me want to go visit! ( i didn’t have time today…had to pop into PINK and get a new Waleroo hat for $40 (best ever for the sun) and some cleanser…then to EB Barret for some great Michael Stars T-shirts….ah, next time!! So…why are the rest of you shopping on line… Get out there and stop in to the new deli and have lunch!
WOW-THANK YOU to the folks at the Larchmont Animal Hospital and to everyone else who have been stopping in to welcome me back to town-I can’t tell you how gratifying it is to have our efforts appreciated! Jim Kearns
Jim- Sounds like you will be well loved…so great! How far do you deliver??? just walking distance?
We deliver far and wide,Observer…by foot, bicycle, pogo stick, automobile, whatever it takes…thanks for your kind comments…Jim Kearns
