Silly Bandz: Corner-ing the Market

The latest must-have giggly craze among the Elementary and Middle School set are these thingys (for lack of a more mature word) called Silly Bandz .

And like their Cabbage Patches before them, they are completely sold-out at Toys R Us, Walgreens, Rite Aid, etc.

So who’s got a healthy supply? The Corner Store in Larchmont. Why? No idea.

But before you start lining up, we hear several teachers in Larchmont/Mamaroneck and Scarsdale have sent notes home prohibiting them in school as too much of a distraction…

Tickle Me Elmo anyone?

  1. The other day my 9 year old daughter asked me why I thought this bracelets were called “silly bands” and I said because anybody who buys them is silly. This is one more gimmicky item that has been promoted to elementary aged kids and tweens as a “must have item.” These bracelets are aesthetically unappealing. When worn on the wrist, they look like rubber bands. At CVS you can buy a pack of 100 colored rubber bands for .99$ and put them on your wrist and it would look no different than the silly bands which cost about $3.50 for a pack of 15.
