State Senate Race A Dead Heat

With the race between long-time incumbent Suzi Oppenheimer and Republican challenger Bob Cohen for the 37th State Senatorial District  still too close to call Wednesday afternoon,

election officials were planning to turn to absentee ballots to tip the race one way or another.

Unofficial results from Tuesday’s election showed Oppenheimer (D-Mamaroneck), hoping to return to the State Senate for her 14th term, in a literally dead head with real estate executive Bob Cohen, with each candidate garnering just over 33,000 votes.  Absentee ballots were not included in those results.

Tuesday night, Republicans gathered at a hotel in White Plains and Democrats at a watering hole in Harrison, awaiting any news about their Midterm election candidates.

At Trinity Restaurant in Harrison,  Oppenheimer told us, "this was a different kind of campaign," but that she was "cautiously optimistic."
