There’s lots to do around theLoop this Mother’s Day weekend. Be especially sure to check out our special list of opportunities to enjoy some live music over the next few days.





Mamaroneck High School is hosting Jam for Sudan this Friday from 6 – 9 p.m. Stop by the baseball field and enjoy the outdoor concert, featuring live performances by 11 student bands. Barbeque, Rita’s Italian Ices and t-shirts will be available for purchase. Proceeds will benefit International Medical Corps (IMC).

Friday is Teen Night at the Rye YMCA from 7 – 10 p.m. Enjoy access to the basketball courts, pool, workout equipment; or hang back with friends in the Teen Lounge and play video games, air hockey, pool, ping-pong or fooseball. Free for members, $5 nonmembers.

Teens in seventh grade and up are invited to the Mamaroneck Library’s Teen Movie Night, featuring Sherlock Holmes this week. Head over to the Harbor Pavilion at 7 p.m. to see the film, or get arrive a little early to enjoy door prizes and refreshments when the doors open at 6:30 p.m.

The Mamaroneck Artist’s Guild’s Trunk Show will feature work by Olga Bedoya, Beth Marlow, Mary Partian, Aurelio Castano and Dabanga Dos Santos. The show’s opening reception is on Thursday from 5 – 7 p.m. Show hours are: Thursday and Friday, noon – 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

New Rochelle’s annual Senior Citizen Prom takes place this Saturday at 5 p.m. at the Hugh Doyle Center. There will be live music by the Peter Childs Band and New RO Voices 6. $10.

The Rye Historical Society is holding A Tribute to Rye, a gala fundraiser, this Saturday from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. All are welcome to attend this event honoring Rye. Tickets can be purchased online via PayPal. $500 Patron; $250 Benefactor; $125 Sponsor; $50 offer your own tribute.

The Mamaroneck Indoor Farmers’ Market runs from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. this Saturday. Be sure to check out some of the 20+ vendors selling cheese, produce, honey, bread and much more. And from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., stop by the Pelham Art Center’s table to make a craft for Mother’s Day.


Purchase College is hosting the Music Conservatory of Westchester’s 80th Anniversary Celebration Concert, featuring pianist Garrick Ohlsson and student ensembles this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. There will also be a dinner prior to the concert at Rye Brook’s Doral Arrowood. And don’t forget about the younger artists—there’s also a Youth Ensembles Concert on the same day, at 3:30 p.m.

The ArtsWestchester Hosts series will cap off with a new urban jazz concert featuring Bob Baldwin and Porter Carroll Jr. this Saturday at 8 p.m. The concert will take place at The Arts Exchange. $25 at the door; $20 in advance; $5 discount for students, seniors and ArtsWestchester members.

The Westchester Chorale Spring Concert will take place this Saturday at the Larchmont Avenue Church, 8 p.m. Tickets can be purchased in advance online or at-the-door. $25 general admission; $20 seniors; $10 students.

New Rochelle’s the Knarly Vine will have live music starting at 9 p.m. this Saturday, featuring Warpold Wine Music—a combination of rock and jazz.

Stop by Larchmont’s Watercolor Café this Sunday at 4 or 7 p.m. for a live concert by folk artist Michelle Shocked. Reservations are strongly suggested.


Learn about the roots of jazz music and its premier artists during Jazz Explorations, a music class at the New Rochelle Public Library this Friday from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m.

The Pelham Art Center will have an opening reception and all-age art workshop this Friday at 6:30 p.m. to introduce Looking Back: Forty Years at the Pelham Art Center, featuring work from the past four decades.

As part of the Sound Shore Shakespeare Festival, New Rochelle High School’s Linda Kelly Theatre will play host to Shakespearean Jukebox this Friday and Saturday, featuring the Knighthorse Theatre Company. Starting at 7:30 p.m., attendees can enjoy an interactive event where the audience can choose from 38 plays they want to see. $15 adults; $10 seniors and students.
