The Westchester County Center is holding an Open Gym Friday evening from 6 – 10 p.m. for high school students. There will be basketball, foosball, board games, knock hockey and plenty of other Westchester high schoolers to hang out with.


Rye’s Fireworks are being shot off on Friday at 9:15 p.m. Head over to the free show (parking is $5) and get a great seat right on the boardwalk.





Have you tried Stroller Strides of New Roc yet? You’ve got nothing to lose. New moms get a free session—it’s a full body workout for you and your baby. This Saturday at 9:15 a.m., enjoy power walking and more while you baby’s engaged with songs and activities. Head out to Glen Island Harbor Club to try it out.


Move, dance and sing at the Greenburgh Nature Center’s Lazy, Hay Puppet Days of Summer this Saturday at 10:30 a.m. You’ll meet a friendly bear, magical fish and plenty of birds. Recommended for ages 2 – 7. $2 members; $6 nonmembers.


County Legislator Judy Meyers and State Assemblyman George Latimer have their next A Cup of Joe with Judy and George event this Saturday. Head to Rye’s Ruby’s Oyster Bar from 10:30 a.m. – 12 noon or the Nautilus Diner in Mamaroneck from 2 – 3:30 p.m. for a free cup of joe and conversation about state and county issues.


Head over to the Mamaroneck Artists Guild this Saturday from 3 – 5 p.m. for the opening reception of Summer in Westchester II, an exhibit featuring work from MAG members in a variety of media.


Make a trip over to Yonkers to experience a double-header for Suburbia Roller Derby this Saturday at E.J. Murray’s. Doors open at 5 p.m., the first whistle blows at 6 p.m. $12 in advance; $15 at the door for general admission. Free for children eight and under.




Grab a pair of binoculars and visit Rye’s Marhslands Conservancy for White Goddesses of the Marsh on Sunday at 10 a.m. You will get close-up views of Snowy and Great egrets as they gather to feed on the marsh’s fish before the winter migration.
