Summer and August are winding down…head outside and take advantage of the last few weeks of the season.







The Village of Mamaroneck Sidewalk Sale continues through Saturday all day long (rain date is Monday). Head out on the town to check out some great deals from local merchants and mingle with other residents.


The East Coast National Baseball Card Show is coming to the Westchester County Center this weekend. Head over between 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Sunday to check out an impressive collection of baseball cards and memorabilia. Can’t make it? It will be back between October 1 – 3 and November 26 – 28.


The White Plains Performing Arts Center presents Once Upon a Mattress on Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. Featuring a young cast, this comedic musical takes the classic Princess and the Pea and turns it on its head. $15, $20.

Night owl? Molly Spillane’s Pub in Mamaroneck hosts an Outdoor Moonlight BBQ every Friday and Saturday this summer from 10 p.m. – 12 a.m. Enjoy reasonably priced cuisine and good company.



Obsessed with American Idol? The Rye Free Reading Room is hosting So You Want a Career in Music… with singer-songwriter Patricia Shih this Friday from 3 – 4 p.m. in the community meeting room. Young adults ages 12 – 18 must register in advance and bring an instrument or CD and copy of their song’s lyrics for some constructive criticism.



The New Rochelle Humane Society is hosting an Open House in honor of National Homeless Animals Day, this Saturday, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Learn about how overpopulation can be prevented through spaying/neutering, microchipping and adoption. There will be informational booths, volunteer information, microchipping for your pet, a kids craft table and opportunities to view the facility and its current inhabitants.




Pool your family’s knowledge during a Family Summer Scavenger Hunt at Rye’s Marshlands Conservancy this Sunday at 10 a.m. You’ll have to keep your eyes peeled to look for natural items in places like the woods, fields, salt marsh and shore. It’s a team effort!


Bold, Beautiful, Breathtaking Butterflies are at the Greenburgh Nature Center. Learn about all the different types of butterflies and what makes them each unique during a guided tour at 1 p.m. on Sunday. After, you can make your own butterfly craft. Recommended for children eight and under. $2 members; $6 nonmembers.
