ENVIRONMENT & HEALTH

 

Residents of Larchmont, Mamaroneck, New Rochelle and Scarsdale are invited to a Focus Group to discuss local environmental issues. Rye’ Wainwright House is hosting an information session at 9:30 a.m. on Friday morning to discuss the health risks caused by common households items like cosmetics, water bottles and canned food. The Village of Mamaroneck’s Second Annual Village-Wide Spring Cleanup is this Saturday, rain or shine, starting at 9:30 a.m. The clean up will begin Columbus Park and last all day. The Village will provide gloves, rakes and bags. www.village.mamaroneck.ny.us

 

Scarsdale’s Weinberg Nature Center is holding its Spring Into the Green Eco-Fest this Sunday from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. The whole family can enjoy outdoor activities like pony rides, live animals, arts and crafts, green energy booths, Native American tool-making workshops, live music and much more. The 2010 Village to Village: Kids for World Health Fest is coming to Larchmont for the 10^th year to benefit the Kids for World Health’s operating room in Lwala, Uganda. Musician Jonathan Edwards will be at the Emelin Theatre this Saturday at 8 p.m. Enjoy a concert by the folk songwriter and artist who has recorded 15 albums. All tickets are $35. www.emelin.org

 

Duo Judy Handler and Mark Levesque will be at the New Rochelle Public Library’s Ossie Davis Theater this Sunday to perform in Global Concert: International Music. The Mamaroneck Artists Guild is holding two introductory workshops this Sunday, both at 1 p.m. The Introduction to Calligraphy workshop will be taught by Terry Kessler Schwartz at the Guild. Participants will learn how to write Italian Renaissance-style. $4 material fee. The Introduction to Plein Air Painting will be taught by Catherine Caulfield Russell at the Hudson Park in New Rochelle.
