Mamaroneck Village police made a grim discovery late Thursday night when they found a woman apparently murdered in a Baldwin Place home.

The body of Jennifer A. Katz, 49, was found by officers who responded to a call to check on the well being of an individual at the house, according to a Village of Mamaroneck police press release. The discovery was made around 11 p.m.

After a preliminary investigation, the department ruled the death a homicide.

Property records show the home is owned by Jennifer A. and Ronald W. Katz.

On Friday morning, the house, located at 615 Baldwin Place, was cordoned off by yellow police tape, with half a dozen police cars  parked in front of the brightly painted blue shingle home.  Humane Officers’  vehicles were also at the scene.

One police officer told a passing motorist,  "It’s really bad in there."

Baldwin Place, a short street of single-family homes, is located just west of I-95 between Fenimore Road and Rockland Avenue.

Police offered few details about the homicide, which they first made public Friday afternoon.

Village of Mamaroneck police, along with the Westchester County Department of Public Safety, are actively investigating the case.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Village of Mamaroneck Detective Division at 914-825-8541 or 914-825-8544. All calls will be kept confidential and can remain anonymous.
